I just went fly fishing for the first time on sunday. Was awesome . Might be hooked (badum).
- This is on my short list of things to learn. I was just given a fly rod that was my grandfather's and I'm excited to learn. Glad to hear it's a quick path to fun.melq
- ... to hear it's a short road to fun.melq
- go with someone who has been fishing for a while. worth years of fucking up alone.cannonball1978
- Sound advice. I've been hitting up the old guys for pointers, but am still pretty far away from knowledgeable here.melq
- Follow the 10oclock, 2oclock angles with your rod, a two count for the back cast, two count for the forward cast.cannonball1978
- Cast like you are punching a jab, not like you are swinging a sword. Go from beside your ear and punch forward on the cast.cannonball1978
- Actually catching a fish is all about stalking. Know the right time, what they are feeding on, the water temp, and don't cast a shadowcannonball1978

^ Tried to learn fly fishing in Patagonia, takes practice. In the meantime, I paddled Hell's Bay in the Everglades National Park. Awesome place for a scary movie.

I just picked up a kayak last week, when this holiday season work dies down a bit I'm hoping to load it up with my fish killing weapons and take it out to the islands and murder some beautiful tropical fish so they can live in my freezer as solid bricks of frozen fish flesh.

- this looks like it's outdoors, yeahchukkaphob
- a canoe would fit right through thatmoldero
- Moldero, we had 20 portages on this trip, some of theme were long and beaver dammed, some of them were straight up silly - log piles!canoe
- sweet -- where'd ya go?Gnash
- Huh? Portaging like that on these rickets, not so sweet, but Pigeon River, MI was too pretty to complain about. Each year I paddle a new river at home in MI.canoe
- nice, canoe. I try and do the same here in ontario. I'd love to try MI some time.Gnash

- Lucky you, I was there 3 years ago, very beautiful.Maaku
- Next time try it with a 23 lb baby boy on your back. The upper road was washed out... looks like a fun overnighter to the top.canoe
