i'm not using USB keys or any other physical objects to transfer files anymore. Have you ever heard of the Cloud?

    • why use the cloud when I can throw a few films on my android device I'm already carrying.set
    • none of the arguments here have any common sense attached to them at all, quite bizarre.set
    • it makes sense though, docs are automatically stored in cloud and transfered to compmonospaced
    • I don't want the "cloud", not for simple things, too slow and unreliableformed
    • fine, then use it as an HDmonospaced
  • set0

^ That's like saying 'Why have a camera on your phone, have you not heard of cameras?'

    Dense.

    • I see your point, but at the same time, any iPhone photo is automatically on the cloud and a connected Macmonospaced
    • so storing them on the phone isn't necessary so much anymore... but I see your pointmonospaced
    • not trying to argue, but just saying that the phone doesn't need to be a traditional HDmonospaced
    • doesn't need to be at all but why restrict access to something you've spent half a grand on?set
    • I think they restrict access so that people don't screw them up. It's worked so far.monospaced
    • walled garden thing... either love it or hate it... mehmonospaced
    • it's not that at all it's so you have to stay within the ecosystem of apple. It's bullshit.set
    • That's a valid opinion. Many people disagree, but you have a point. Not sure what you want to do, but sure.monospaced

Apple cables have always been a little dodgy but they have improved a lot recently. Never had problems since the last 3 years.
Mini USB is shit, any USB is shit. they become loose after some time of plug / unplug which is the case with a charger (for an always connected device it's ok).

If you really need to output to an external monitor, is £25 really that much?

Documents > Pass any file to phone without cables, like a wireless pen.

I feel you on the notifications thing, you can dismiss them by swiping to the right, but they come back shortly after.

Software is not dodgy on my end, iPad 3 works great with iOS7.

Every other company in the world work flawlessly except this goddamn Apple. Why do they keep fucking up so much!!?

^ Your last paragraph is retarded.

People don't seem to understand the concept of criticising a product. These are products we all use every day, what kind of people just accept everything blindly without criticising...? Morons.

What is it about Apple that makes you all so emotionally involved and feel the need to have to defend them every time someone makes an honest observation about something they don't like?

    It's really curious.

I've always been a fan of apple. I still really love both my personal and work iMacs. I loved my iPad mini and my iPhone 4S as well. Since then though you can buy a far better, faster, nicer device for half the price and none of the restrictions.

    • But if you criticize, you must irrationally hate Apple! Because Apple is Buddha and Santa!i_monk
    • 'moransyurimon
    • honestly? I only bother because 90% of the stuff I read about Apple on the internet, are people hating.inteliboy
    • The last paragraph meant that every company has flaws, including Apple... you need to accept that, Apple is not aboveESKEMA
    • meanwhile geek darlings like android and samsung seem to get this lovely free pass of criticism.inteliboy

    "Mini-USB is perfect and universal."

Mini USB is the most god awful kind of plug I've ever used. It's flimsy, one directional and I've had multiple portable harddrives fail because of those damn mini usb plugs. Hate em.

    • I see that's the only point you could pick up on, haha. I'll assume you accept defeat on the rest.set
    • relax. I was going to, but why bother.inteliboy
  • benfal990

a 32gb iPhone already filled up with tons of Mp3s and apps doesnt' have plenty of space left for carrying files on it as an external hard drive. A simple and tiny USB key with 64Gb of space will serves you better than using your iPhone.

    argument invalid.

    • You're still completely missing the point, haha.set
    • i think you are blinded by your idea and can't see the realitybenfal99
    • (PS: i still respect you set ;)benfal99
    • I keep files on my phone sometimes, it's not a hard concept to understand mate.set
    • my android device mounts as a hard drive, it's a nice feature. Apple lock you into itunes.set
    • why pay £600 for a phone that restricts you access to it? That's the point you're missing.set
    • ok, good for you! you're a unique case, it's totally fine, glad you found a solutionmonospaced
    • I just toss files on a cloud somewhere so I don't have to rely on hardware to transfermonospaced
    • vbenfal99
    • eh?set
    • and mono is STILL missing the point even after me explaining it, haha.set
    • I get your point. You don't like that Apple doesn't allow it. My point is that's okay, you have another option!monospaced
    • you are already off the iPhone, that's good, right?monospaced
  • benfal990

and if you want to use your iPhone as a drive there's a super simple app for that. I use to have it on my PC... I can't remember the name. No need to jailbreak or anything.. You can store any file on your iPhone with that program. Google it, you'll find it.

You'll be happy to fill the 1,3gb left on your iPhone with 1 HD movie ;)

    • <benfal99
    • sorry mate but you're a proper half-witset
    • You still don't get it. I'm talking about Apple restricting their users.set
    • You pay twice the price for an iphone and are totally confined to the Apple ecosystem. All I'm saying.set

    • ps: i still respect you, set :)benfal99
    • did it ever occur to you the users don't actually feel restricted?monospaced

Moral of this story. Don't ever speak of Apple in any way other than 100% blind adoring accepting praise.

    You lot are mental.

I find all this very enjoyable. Please carry on.

This is productive. Competition and bitching are great qualities of capitalism and I, for one, look forward to the ongoing war.

My turn...I hate that my 4S is full of photos, middle of a boating ride it fills up. No way to do anything but delete photos. I also have a S5 that I can add storage to, drag and drop anything (amazing concept there! No locking users into some ridiculous software or format), just wonderfully simple, like most computers...too bad it feels like a piece of cheap plastic.
I just want the best product out there, doesn't matter who makes it really. The sapphire rumors had me intrigued, but now it looks like those are just rumors. Now the M8 with Windows looks intriguing (iOS7, while light years ahead of iOS6, it still feels old), maybe even wait to see how Android L looks.

Really, though, all of them are looking pretty good. Even Samsung is responding to my criticism of their plastic!

    • you, define the market place.2002

Apple wireless mice turn into the most frustrating device ever after a years worth of use.

I can bitch and moan about all of my issues with the newest Retina MBPRO i am on right now, but after a few months of trying to use a new ASUS touch enabled windows 8 laptop i can honestly say i can deal with whatever the "White Glowing Apple" throws at me.

Attempting to get a PC that had decent case design(it was a good rip off of a a macbook), Decent specs and something Apple is yet to offer(the touch screen)... I was in a world of hurt. Windows 8's using buddies of mine were touting how its finally fixed so many things that were wrong with windows. Oh man, if that was "fixed" i am glad i missed all the broken iterations since XP Pro which was the last winblows OS i was using solidly.

    • Yup, unfortunately Apple is currently the only way to go when it comes to computing..set

We need a slick new open source operating system that embraces things like sketch and webflow. Would be wonderful to get away from Apple and Adobe but right now they are the best (only) options available.
