    Dear Charles,

This is a reminder about our communication from September 2016. As of February 5, 2017, Apple Distribution International will relocate the iTunes, Apple Music, App Store and iBooks Store businesses from Luxembourg to Cork, Ireland. The Luxembourg Branch of Apple Distribution International will cease its operations on February 4.

Apple has been operating in Ireland since 1980 and now employs nearly 6,000 people. As we continue to expand our operations in Cork, we are moving our iTunes business there and will support content stores and services for more than 100 countries from our campus at Hollyhill.

Please review the following details and take the appropriate actions.

    Contracts

Your contracts with Apple Distribution International (CRO Company Number: 470672) will remain unchanged. Your contracts were already transferred automatically by operation of law to Apple Distribution International on September 25, 2016 by the effect of the merger of iTunes S.à r.l. with Apple Distribution International. No action is needed.

    Taxes

We do not expect to have to deduct or withhold taxes from the payments we make to you. However, applicable laws are always subject to change.

    VAT

The VAT ID of Apple Distribution International in Ireland is IE9700053D.

Note to Irish based partners: Apple Distribution International has exporter status under Irish VAT law and is entitled to purchase from you free from a charge of Irish VAT. A copy of the Apple Distribution International authorization from the Revenue Commissioners in this regard is available to you here.

    Invoices

If your company sends invoices or other documents to customers that include a reference to Apple Distribution International, Luxembourg Branch, note that the Branch will cease its operations on February 4. Removing references to the Luxembourg Branch from your documentation is a logical consequence.

If your company is currently required to send invoices to Apple Distribution International, starting February 5, 2017, all invoices should be sent to Apple Distribution International in Cork, Ireland at the following address:

    Apple Distribution International
    Internet Software & Services

Hollyhill Industrial Estate

Hollyhill, Cork

Republic of Ireland

    Thank you for your business.

    Best Regards,
    The iTunes Store team

Apple crushed all expectations for its first-quarter earnings on Tuesday; shares were up nearly 3% after hours in response.

Apple saw $78.4 billion for revenue on expectations of $77.4 billion, and reported earnings of $3.36 per share on expectations of $3.21.

Most importantly, iPhone sales exceeded the high hopes Wall Street had for the quarter, with 78.3 million units sold, on predictions of 76.3 million.

It was Apple’s highest quarterly revenue ever, and iPhone’s biggest quarter ever.

Replacing my iPhone 6 Plus with a Google Pixel XL. Pretty upset with my last two iPhones and how long they lasted.

The 6 Plus had the screen ghosting issue where the touchscreen randomly wouldn't work. You had to kind of twist the phone and/or push on the screen to get it to work again. Apple admitted it was an issue (loose connection) but wanted $150 to fix it.

It also had that annoying battery issue (software related?) that anytime my battery was under ~30% it would just randomly power down and claim to be out of battery. Plug it back in and it turns on instantly with 30-40% battery.

Just the other day it stopped picking up cell service. The SIM card works in my router still and picks up LTE. This was the real nail in the coffin. The other issues were just super annoying. Which is ridiculous to deal with on a $700 phone now that I'm typing it out.

I was going to get an iPhone 7 Plus. However, my wife just got one and it's super buggy. The biggest issue is that sometimes it doesn't ring or vibrate when receiving a call — even though both are turned on. Yes, her new $800 phone doesn't even ring sometimes. She's a nurse and takes call so her phone is pretty much useless to her until they get this fix.

So I'm saying "fuck it" and trying out the Pixel because I feel like a fool to give apple another $800 for a phone that has so many stupid issues.

You might not think that is too crazy, but I'm an iOS developer and have only developed for iOS for the last six or seven years. Suddenly I'll be without an iPhone — so that feels weird. My current job is an iPad app, so that makes it a little easier.

I love my Macbook Pro and the OS, but I feel that things are really starting to go downhill — especially on mobile (software) side of things. I see Apple job postings for pretty high-level positions on StackOverflow a lot now.

Long story short — I'm giving the iPhone and Swift and rest and am going to try out Andoid and Go Lang.

    • I hope that your $800 Pixel doesn't have any problems at all.monospaced
    • I'm sure it will. Hopefully the screen, battery, and cell service will at least work though. lolrosem

    • My wife and I had both of the first two issues with our iPhone 6s' at nearly the same time. I hear the Pixel is amazing.kona
    • You won't be disappointed.set

I read this earlier, which rang true to me..

I'd never considered the Education market in the states and how that impacts upon their general sales trajectories.

So, they've fucked education, fucked over devs and techs, are idling where pads are concerned and I'd be amazed if people are still wetting themselves when the iPhone 9 comes out...

Apple tries to save the iPad, but it's too little, too late

iPad sales are awful. Truly awful. And while CEO Tim Cook may be bullish about the tablet's future, Apple desperately needed to do something to try to turn sales around.

Well, we now have a price cut.

You know things are desperate when Apple starts cutting prices, but the latest iPad price cut might have come too late to save it.

"We’re not going to get into exactly what stage we’re in, just that we told the team to take the time to do something really great. To do something that can be supported for a long time with customers with updates and upgrades throughout the years. We’ll take the time it takes to do that. The current Mac Pro, as we’ve said a few times, was constrained thermally and it restricted our ability to upgrade it. And for that, we’re sorry to disappoint customers who wanted that, and we’ve asked the team to go and re-architect and design something great for the future that those Mac Pro customers who want more expandability, more upgradability in the future.
