I know a lot of QBNers hate on LinkedIn because it's a bit dull. But, it's a good way to find work if you're a freelancer. Especially now you can link it up to Behnce like this:
Hope that's useful.

I just deleted my a/c. Most useless a/c I've ever had.
- breadlegz0
Why's that Craig?
- craigatkinson0
because all I've had from linked in is daily spam asking me to join peoples networks. I just think it was outdated by the time it got popular.

I have it but don't pay much (any) attention to it.
Have had a few job offers come as a result of being on it.

Linkedin is completely pointless, no one is ever there, you get forced to open the account once a month to try to figure out how can you make linkedin to stop spamming you with useless emails about who gave you a recommendation. You spend a couple of minutes on it, and you realized you ticked every single box that says "never contact me again' you curse at the linkedin corporation and you go to the kitchen to get a glass of whiskey (neat) to calm down and not punch the work computer.
Bejance however, is amazing. I'm on pretty much every network a freelance artist can use, except deviant art. and the only one that got me work was bejance (maybe flickr)
- before I posted I judged your spelling of bejance until I had to change minewhatthefunk
- hahaha 'they' don't like that name hereMiguex
- I just fell slightly more in love with you.canoe

I've received, out of the blue, 3 full time job offers that have been fantastic. I also ask every client to recommend me and it's been great. BTW, the bejance thing has been on there for over 2 years...just sayin
- from linkedin or bejance?Miguex

Yeah I got my current job via linkedin and have received multiple job offers via it in the last few months. Very good tool to reach out to senior people in agencies and of course recruiters, which is not necessarily easy if you don't know specifically who they are.
I get next to no spam from people wanting to join my network, every person I'm connected to I have worked with/for in some capacity.

I've recieved both freelance and full-time offers through linkedin. Some panned out some didn't. I found my current job because of bejance through their job board... but nothing else.
IMO linkedin is only a resource that pays out what you put into it. It can be either very useful or very pointless. But again it's all in how much you want to use it.

I've approached my linkedin account from an SEO/keyword perspective and it appears that so many companies and recruiters do searches that I pop up all the time. I've even started referring freelance friends to recruiters who offer a referral bonus and not only have I made a few grand off of it but then I build relationships with recruiters, if you can't beat them - join em!

LinkedIn can get a bit spammy... BUT ... if you cam work it a bit and use it for your own advantage, it can also be a very useful platform.

"I know a lot of QBNers hate on LinkedIn because it's a bit dull"
No I hate it because fucking morons who sign up for it and upload all their address book give them a licence to spam the fuck out of me.
- Why the fuck should I have to opt out of a site I don't have an account onanimatedgif

i use it a lot and have found quite a bit of work through it. i just friend every professional i meet in person and avoid the spammies.

In the near Future,
only a rare breed of creative will survive,
their online portfolio will be vetted by social critics on meta sites like facebookPedia, linked-in, be_hance, "google +V2 Beta 0.7"
they will not get compensated but will have plenty of likes, pokes and emoticons smily thingy to live like kings.

@GeorgesII
It seems laughable... but bejance is already doing things like this. I recieved an email from them a few weeks ago about auditioning designers for a $10k job via projects in their bejance portfolios. The leading contenders would be judged by the amount of 'appreciations' a particular project got...
Now i'm glad they're not outright crowdsourcing/soliciting spec work but still... to merit the winning audition based on the amount of 'appreciations' a project gets is quite sad if you think about it.

It's been good for me with 3 full-time job offers (two of which I accepted). I've had no spam problems either...

So the question is...
What are the folks doing that are landing jobs that the rest of us earth-bound pigs are not?
- fyoucher10
I find it extremely useful.

i joined up on linked in years and years ago....and have found it to be a pretty great tool for keeping in touch with old colleagues etc...bouncing from one company to another, your circle of potential clients is always getting bigger and bigger.. i don't use it every day, but it's like any other tool i suppose...when i DO need it, it does the job it's designed to do remarkably well....

Anyone know if the LinkedIn Be-hance feature can feature video within a LinkedIn subpage? Or is it just static imagery?
- breadlegz0
fyoucher1 - you can ad video to LinkedIn in a different way.
Create a google doc with a video in and then use the google docs app within LinkedIn.
