Why the hell did they use a W flipped upside down for MetaWiki, instead of an actual M? Agreed with Brains - good on ideas, lacking in execution.

Nice find. The obtrusively large header and footer design bothers me, but other than that, this is a nice project and exploration.

The branding ideas are nice, though they lost me at that rainbow line diagram logo thing. The overall pitch needs more restraint... a bit of designer wank going on here.
Agreed that the UI is clunky. Wikipedia should just be basic basic CSS with no overly designed nonsense hanging around. This is one of the reasons why wiki, google, facebook (initially) and even sites like reddit have become so popular.
That said - I always enjoy looking at stuff like this. It's great to see designers tackle faux-projects just for the hell of it.

It's been redesigned with tablets in mind, which means it wastes as much space as possible so things are big enough and spaced out enough for fingers to poke. Design-for-tablets has to stop.
There are some good ideas here though.
The WikiMedia logo is not one of them, however.

i think it's great.
looks real sharp and i'm glad the text doesn't go from far left to far right.

Can we please stop using a spectrum of colours to represent the many spokes of a brand.
It's lazy as fuck
