    Has anyone noticed how many news sites have lately switched to Facebook only comments? Goodbye anonymity.

    Facebook-only? No. But Facebook/Twitter/Disqus/OpenID/e... yes.

    • That option is dwindling.mg331/2
      I see it far more often than just Facebook.i_monk2/2

    We decided on "intenseDebate" plugin for WP, as it allows FB comments + others, as well as the occasional anonymous poster...

    We had to mess with the CSS a LOT, as the "intenseDebate" logo was not elegant, but it ended up working...

    FB comments are EASY to install, and sometimes we wish we did that, but the trade-off of losing your data, and the occasional slower page load + alienating non FB people...

    Note that FB comments do allow some other logins, like hotmail... just not google (uh huh, I see where they're going with that)

    Some sites are now just big fat adverts for facebook. They sometimes have more branding for FB and links over to FB than their own site. Deferring over to FB like that is just nuts.

    Maybe i should start a Tumblr page showing screen shots of sites with rediculous FB links etc.

    @ChrisKeegan
    Spot on, I've worked with clients who had such a hard on for social that there was way more Facebook branding and like-gates than their actual product. (Not my decision of course, this is after many rounds of painful feedback)
