Agreed. It's not about making money, but just having it out there for people to find, buy or listen. We get a lot of people asking, and tracks people have uploaded on youtube are getting a bunch of plays though we have no real way for people to get our music except for on soundcloud or our website which aint exactly what "normal" people do to find music.
I think with not being on iTunes and Spotify we're missing out on a lot - but aggregators come across as so slimy, almost scam like...

Been hearing alot about earbits lately, maybe worth a try too.

what aggregators have you looked at so far? (slimy ones) im super curious. I'm testing the waters with http://www.symphonicdistribution… for my label, and it seems to be good so far. still a lot of trust that what they're reporting is accurate, but that goes for any company out there. There's also CDBaby.com which has a reputation it stands behind.. ive had shit through them for a while and would stay with them, if not for the $40 fee to sign up an album, it eats up the minimal profits made from downloads etc pretty damn fast.

The Symphonic guys get your shit out to a decent # of popular distros like iTunes, Spotify, JunoDownload, and once you have a bit of a catalogue with them (3 releases I think it is) they will start applying to get your shit listed on beatport, which is arguably the holy grail of digital distros if youre an electronic musician.

you could do it yourself on bandcamp.com
ive looked at this before but didnt get much further than the respective site's "what we offer pages" of aggregators that take care of the whole shebang for you.
- prob with bandcamp is it is only bandcamp or facebook. They'd be on a winner if stuff could be added to itunes, amazon etc.inteliboy

My advice to you:
The days or making money from selling music are coming to an end.
Instead, take the complete opposite approach and get those tunes anywhere you can, spotify, youtube, soundcloud, bandcamp, official.fm etc for free.Money from music comes from licensing nowadays or live shows.
An established musician with a big following has different levels of fans, the highest level of fan (I don't like the term superfan) will pay money for the big wooden limited edition box of re-mastered edits from 30 years ago.
The causal fan, will buy a couple of tunes every now and then.
and then there's the new ears that could become your fans, you need LOTS of these before you reach someone that will pay for your tunes, so make sure you have a lot of music available for those ears before you consider selling tunes.
10 years ago this was different, but these days, EVERYONE MAKES MUSIC, so theres A LOT OF CONTENT COMING FROM ALL OVER, yes most of it is crap, but also A LOT OF IT IS REALLY GOOD TOO.
