In the article they say they wanted a "sleek" logo. This doesn't feel sleek to me.

it is slick. and fun.
nice work

I like how he copied the exact same old logo and used the Type on Path tool.

It's shit guys.

its not terrible, but it's certainly not sleek. I don't like how he used a condensed font for the sole purpose of making the 50 on top. maybe that was the clients/stones choice tho? who knows.
- mantrakid0
the 50 is there to signify the number of fonts he wanted to use, but settled on just 5.
- lvl_130
you guys are all missing the point. no one gives a shit about the rolling stones, so therefore the logo doesn't matter.
- dbloc0
how many fonts were used exactly...

5 fonts,
0 love.

Surprised how anyone can see this as slick. The type is just plain bad.
Also, that mark is so well known, I don't see the need to whack 'The Rolling Stones' on it. Could have just been the tongue and a nicely balanced 50, job done, Bob's your Aunty.

They should have put wrinkles on the lips since they're in their 80s now.

i've never seen so much hate for an anniversary logo ...
compared to others, this one IS slick. it's 2 colors — no bevels, drop shadows, &C
maybe you guys need a collective vacation so you can complain about local typesetting issues too
- Jimbo820
- Sorry. Don't mean to come across as arsey, it's been a long day.Jimbo82
- good, because that was an arsey comment.doesnotexist

Nobody is complaining about a lack of bevelling, too few colours, or any of your other strawmen.
It's shit because it rapes the lettering to fit the "50" on top, it uses five typefaces/weights in close proximity, it substitutes the 5 for an S and zero for O the way we all did in first year at design school, and in typical Fairey fashion he's made it about himself/his brand (the colours) instead of the client.
If you needed all of that spelled out maybe you need a vacation.
- doesnotexist0
if that's typical fairey then i suppose he's done his job.
could it be you're taking this too seriously? it's a light-hearted solution i find pleasant.
