Stock graphics are for PowerPoint.

well, i think stock logo is much more disappointing.
I see it like a website template, it depends on the usability or how a designer adapts the imagery to their design. Personally I've only used vectors from shutterstock, istockphoto and it's just animals or figurines.

it's the same for any stock product- custom is always preferred, but if it's not part of the budget, you use the tools available.

sometimes you don't have time to reinvent the wheel or you need something outside of your skillset. the thing about those vectors is they aren't meant to be used on their own as a final image, they're meant to be modified, layered... they're just a resource, not an end product
