Will anyone miss this kid? I sure won't. It's now known Trayvon recently beat up an elderly bus driver and brought drugs to school.

    • He had an empty bag suspected of containing pot. You really twist facts to make your points.ETM
    • Not to mention you keep calling Zimmerman a Town Watchman issued a gun.ETM

    Heres my 2 cents

Heres the real problem both sides have something to be pissed about.

Trayvon was walking home with only skittles and an arizona not particularly paraphernalia that would show he was going to cause issues. But ultimately he acted immaturely and attacked Zimmerman because Zimmerman was following him.

Zimmerman on the other hand was just doing his job and reported what he thought was suspicious behavior from Trayvon. He followed Trayvon which he was told not to do which resulted in Trayvon acting defensively and ultimately attacking Zimmerman.

Trayvon gave Zimmerman a beat down and Zimmerman had to pull out his gun and defend himself.

    Both parties were wrong.

Reports suggests that Trayvon was at his Dad's girlfriend's house in Twin Lakes watching the NBA game. During the break, Trayvon runs to get a bag of Skittles. [source: wiki] However on Feb 26 at 7pm the day Trayvon was shot, the Western/ East All Star Game wasn't scheduled to start til 7:30pm.

Now there is a mall about a mile away. At 7pm on a dark and rainy night, in a neighborhood that rates 3 out of 100 (100 being the safest) Trayvon chose to go to the 7-eleven. The closest 7-Eleven is two miles away from Twin Lakes. [source: googlemaps]

    • well, clearly he planned to rob the 7-11, stake out some houses, and sell crack to some kids on his way back. Glad we know now.monkeyshine
    • know the truth now.monkeyshine

    • If you look at the distance on the Google map you'll see that the 7-11 is closer than the mall. It's also possible that the mall was closed at that time.Josev

It's not his fault he was followed. Did I say that? Nope. I said it MAY be his own fault he got killed and that's a fact. Allow me to explain for those that are slow.

Zimmerman was appointed by the town to look into suspicious characters. He sees a hooded person walking around in an upscale community at night looking at houses. It just so happens Trayvon was recently found with a tool to break into locked doors, among committing many other crimes so he was no angel. Zimmerman asks Trayvon what he's doing, and there's a confrontation.

What we cant possibly know is who attacked first, but from that 13 year old witness we know Zimmerman was on his back screaming for help while being punched in the nose and having his head slammed into the ground. Now at that point your life is actually being threatened and you have the legal right to use lethal force to protect yourself. Its either that or you just wait to die. Up to you but I would have shot him too.

Now what about that is difficult for you to understand, unless of course you're black and everyone that attacks blacks must be racist and have intent to kill?

    • "It may be" and "that's a fact" are incongruent statements.DrBombay

Zimmerman was town watchman with a licensed weapon. He was kind of chosen to look into anyone who he deems as suspicious. I think a kid walking slowly in the rain looking at houses qualifies as something to check out.

So he follows him. After that we don't know what happened outside of what the 13 year old witness saw, which was Zimmerman on his back being pummeled by Trayvon, then a gun shot.

Zimmerman walks, end of story, which is what should happen, if that is in fact all we know. You can't put a guy away for life without knowing for a hard fact that he attacked first, which we just don't know right now and may never know. And if that's the case it's just the right thing to let him go.

But black people will protest, riot and loot anyway. They enjoy that apparently. It seems like when white people protest it's over wars and bigger shit like that. Black people do it over one lost black kid without even know ALL of the facts.

    • He WAS NOT a town watchman, he was a self-appointed captain of a small neighborhood watchJosev
    • The handgun was NOT issued to him, it was his personal weaponJosev
    • The police didn't even follow proper procedures when he gave his account of what happened, which is why the FBI has stepped in.Josev
    • has stepped in. They didnt even contact all of the witnesses.Josev
    • Besides... WTF would a town watchman be? Is this 1887 London?ETM

  • monospaced0

It's really unfortunate that there were no witnesses and no record of what actually happened. Just one man's story and a dead boy. To confidently cry "racism" is hard to accept in the light of little to no evidence. For all we know Trayvon said something derogatory and instigated the whole scuffle. I'm never, ever advocating the result of what happened, and I'm not saying Zimmerman was right in any way, I'm just saying that the whole story will probably never be revealed.

    • good point!utopian
    • I agree. I think the race issue is real but without knowing the full story we're all just guessing.Glitterati_Duane
    • But take away racism and there was still a messed up scenario. A small unarmed kid was shot but a larger grown man.Glitterati_Duane
    • I can't think of anything an unarmed kid could say to make me want to shoot themGlitterati_Duane
    • Have you been watching the news? They're are partial witness accounts.ETM

  • CygnusZero40

I have to be honest, I'm not racist by any means. I don't look at every young black man as a criminal or a thug, but if I were appointed a town watchman or whatever the hell he was, and saw a hooked black guy walking around look at houses, I would probably want to look into it also.

The fact is it's burned into our brains how so many black kids are trouble makers. Many people are just brought up to assume that. It's irrelevant what he thought though.

He followed the guy which is not illegal, and given his position it sounds like something he was actually supposed to do. We know for a fact from a witness Traynon was attacking Zimmerman and Zimmerman was screaming for help. That can't be denied. What we don't know is who attacked first. And if there's no proof of that, Zimmerman will walk, as he should.

It may be impossible to prove whether he just killed a defenseless kid in cold blood, and if you cant prove that, sorry you cant put the guy in prison. It's not right.

    • *hooded black guyCygnusZero4
    • In my opinion, the screaming you hear on those tapes does not sound like Zimmerman it's sounds more like TreyvonRamanisky2
    • anyone found any recordings of trayvon's voice?lambsy

What would you do if an approaching stranger followed you home in a black truck, and a gun holstered on his side on a dark and rainy night? Your choices is to stand and get shot, or defend yourself against this attacker and hope you don't get shot.

Why all of a sudden is this race thing being blown out of proportion? A couple years ago, 2 black guys rape a 90 year old woman, and Al Sharpton and the Black Panthers were not there for the black communities in this great racial injustice. Why does this case hold so much interest for the news media, which is obviously fueling the interest in this story. Else no one would care.

Why aren't the kids ransacking the Walgreens for this story?
