Seems like a perfect storm of errors.
Security guard stalks Trayvon, assumes he's up to no good.
Trayvon thinks Zimerman is up to no good, probably trying to rob him.stand off ensues mix in fear/bravado/adrenalin and struggle ensues, shot is fired. Teen dies.
Should have went something like:
Zimmerman: this is security, please identify yourself
Trayvon: My name is Trayvon Martin, my father lives at XXX his name is xxxZimmerman: what are you doing out here alone?
Trayvon: just getting some snacks from the store. would you like some skittles?Zimmerman: Ok thanks, have a nice night.
everyone lives happily ever after.
- Taste the rainbow...omg
- Zimmerman was not security. He was a volunteer community watch person.ETM

i think ill start chasing white ppl and when they fight back i'll shoot them and claim self defense.

Seems like Trayvon was the one trying to defend himself.
Zimmerman got close enough to get involved in an altercation. Based on the audio from the 911 calls, Zimmerman did not sound like someone who would calmly and rationally approach someone he's been following through his neighborhood, as well as being armed. My guess is Zimmerman ran up to him grabbed him, got smacked in the face a couple times, then shot.
Ultimately this is terrible police work to just let him go, assuming it's just another gangster that got shot. Now this whole case is being played out in the public court. Good luck trying to find an impartial jury, if Zimmerman even gets charged at all.
- he also has priors for battery on a cop and a restraining order from a girllocustsloth
- in other words, this was a man who has a history of letting temper get in the way of good judgementlocustsloth

Black Panthers offer $10,000 bounty to catch Trayvon killer. Seems like he is safer in jail than on the streets.
- randommail0
Al Qaeda claimed self-defense.

It's good that all this has come out into the public scene, but honestly, in the end, Zimmerman will probably be charged with murder. I just wish we could get past all the song and dance a bit quicker.
Living in Mississippi, we do have the "castle laws" here that say we can defend ourselves in our own home, vehicle, and place of employment without fear of prosecution, which is good to have, in my opinion. The problem will always be the general public's interpretation of these laws.

People's interpretation of "sef-defense" is the issue, to me........

Perfect for Kickstarter...

Hmmm so there was a 13 year old witness that said Zimmerman was lying on the grass moaning and crying for help, and that Trayvon was going for his gun, and Trayvon has recently been suspended from school for pot.
Sounds like an innocent angel to me. >_>
- Yet, this 13 year still thinks Zimmerman should be arrested....ETM
- CygnusZero40
Nope, but attacking another man means you're definitely asking for it. Even if Zimmerman was following the kid, checking him out, I highly doubt Zimmerman went out there just to murder someone.
From what we know from an eye witness, Trayvon was the attacker, on top of Zimmerman who was found bleeding from multiple places.
Then consider that Trayvon at such a young age was already involved with drugs in school? Let's not pretend this kid was just some sweet innocent victim just yet until all the facts come out. That's all I'm saying.
- Did you listen to the 911 call Zimmerman made? He started to follow Trayvon AFTER the 911 dispatcher told him not to. Police were on the way.
Josev - Fuck it. The cops said let it be and he didn't listen. Had he everything would have been fine today.ETM
- it was pot.. come on. this reads like a fox news comment.inteliboy
- Police were on the way. And he was a pot smoker, it's estimated that 40% of HS students have tried marijuana.Josev

I don't care if it was a crackhead, if someone is following you at night, starts to confront you, and then attacks you, you deserve all concequences.
- YOU put yourself in that predicament. End of story.ArmandoEstrada
- CygnusZero40
And how do you know Zimmerman attacked him first? Maybe Trayvon was the attacker, in which case Zimmerman was then fighting for his life. Once again, people are assuming without knowing ALL the facts. Guilty until proven innocent as usual.
- Again YOU put yourself in the predicament. If Treyvon attacked first, he was attacking in self defense since he feared for his life. I would in the same situation.ArmandoEstrada
- For his life. I would in same situation.ArmandoEstrada

For all we know Zimmerman was following a suspicious person, confronted him just by talking and Trayvon flipped out on him. That's a real possibility that noone wants to consider since it was a kid that was killed here. Ridiculous.
- I considered it and posted about it on the second page. Sad part is that we may never know and someone had to die at all.monospaced

or it could have been this...
"For all we know Zimmerman was following an innocent person, confronted him, while holding a gun, and Trayvon flipped out on him.
- Josev0
I can be pissed off about this. Listen to the 911 tape. At one point Trayvon is walking away and Zimmerman says "awh man, they always get away..." then starts following after him in what sounds like a brisk pace based on the wind noise in the phone. This was AFTER he was told not to follow him. AND, to say they "always get away"? Talk about guilty until proven innocent.
- Told by the 911 dispatcher who said police were on the way.Josev

The account is that when Zimmerman approached, Tavyon said, "Why are you following me? to which Zimmerman replied, "What are you doing here?"
Didn't try to identify himself or anything, just went straight on the verbal attack.
Seems like you should be more respectable if you are a self-appointed "watch commander" of 4 years.
"Good evening, sorry, didn't mean to startle you. I am part of the neighborhood watch and just checking up on things. Everything good, you see anything while you've been out? I apologize, but I don't recognize you, do you live in the community or are you visiting? "
"Oh, you are so-and-so's son. Nice to meet you, sorry again for startling you. Have a good one."I am sure Treyvon would still have given him some attitude, but I don;t think anyone would be dead.
