@deathboy...there are always cases that get more attention. How is it JonBenet Ramsey's killing got non-stop national coverage when Tabatha Tudor, a poor kid from Nashville, barely made headlines after her disappearance?
If the police had arrested Zimmerman (or at least done a background check and/or taken him in for questioning) and played out the investigation the way many feel was appropriate, I don't think this shooting would be getting so much attention.

What would you do if an approaching stranger followed you home in a black truck, and a gun holstered on his side on a dark and rainy night? Your choices is to stand and get shot, or defend yourself against this attacker and hope you don't get shot.
Why all of a sudden is this race thing being blown out of proportion? A couple years ago, 2 black guys rape a 90 year old woman, and Al Sharpton and the Black Panthers were not there for the black communities in this great racial injustice. Why does this case hold so much interest for the news media, which is obviously fueling the interest in this story. Else no one would care.
Why aren't the kids ransacking the Walgreens for this story?

It's not his fault he was followed. Did I say that? Nope. I said it MAY be his own fault he got killed and that's a fact. Allow me to explain for those that are slow.
Zimmerman was appointed by the town to look into suspicious characters. He sees a hooded person walking around in an upscale community at night looking at houses. It just so happens Trayvon was recently found with a tool to break into locked doors, among committing many other crimes so he was no angel. Zimmerman asks Trayvon what he's doing, and there's a confrontation.
What we cant possibly know is who attacked first, but from that 13 year old witness we know Zimmerman was on his back screaming for help while being punched in the nose and having his head slammed into the ground. Now at that point your life is actually being threatened and you have the legal right to use lethal force to protect yourself. Its either that or you just wait to die. Up to you but I would have shot him too.
Now what about that is difficult for you to understand, unless of course you're black and everyone that attacks blacks must be racist and have intent to kill?

When I was in 9th grade ... one night i went out to my local video store. On the way there as I'm crossing a road, I notice this car where the driver made this weird u-turn and was eyeballing me the entire time .. It was a cold drizzly night out so I had my black jacket and a skullcap on (suspicious looking for sure)
I get to the store and I rent a couple of movies and bought a couple of movie posters. On my way back. I cross that same road and now I'm in a shopping plaza parking lot where its night now and almost all the stores are closed. I'm walking when the same car comes whipping up from behind me like an action movie the guy hits his brakes and comes to a squealing stop. I swear, I think I saw smoke coming from the tires. The guy gets out about 5"6 180 pounds, older looking maybe in his mid-40's with a stache wearing a suit and tie.. screaming ":You!!! COME HERE!!! NOW!!!"
I say, "what? I didn't.. why?" ... He says "Police" and flashes something that looks like a badge "I said, COME HERE!!!"
to which I replied "I didn't do anything" and bolted.. fuuuuuuuuckI hear "stop Police...STOP... POLICE!!!"
I ran towards the shops .. one shop was still open.. it was a haircut place and so I enter it like a maniac all out of breath and scared as fuck and everybody turns their head to look at me and within seconds of entering the place I get shoved into the wall and now there's 3 of them including a female officer.
same dude starts with "What the fuck are you running from the police for? we could've shot you!!!" "whats in the bag?" .....
"Just some rented movies"...
the female officer grabs the bag and searches... "just movies & posters sir"..apparently there were several homes that were robbed nearby and these assholes thought I looked like the guy in their shitty little sketch.
so instead of saying sorry and our bad ... this guy continued with you never run from the cops .. I told him "look, you're dressed like a civilian driving an unmarked car.. what was I supposed to do?"

Irrelevant. Zimmerman didn't know that. Know why? Because NO ONE knew who Trayvon even WAS. He was listed as a John Doe until the day after he was shotAt the point at which Zimmerman gets out of his car to pursue Trayvon, he is a vigilante, acting outside the guidelines of the law and the neighborhood watch. He, in this action, instigates the incident. He is at the very least partially culpable for the death and should be charged as such.
Additionally, Florida has no open carry laws, only concealed and travel carry. So the claim that Trayvon was going for the gun and that the shot was a result of the struggle means that Zimmerman had it out and was already prepared to use it.
Even stripping all racial context from this incident, Zimmerman should not walk off scott free. Though i would support the argument that he isn't scott-free as this will likely require him to abandon his life as he knows it, even if he's innocent. However i believe there should be legal repercussions as well.- < thisRamanisky2

I was pulled over once because I had a white car. There was a robbery and they were looking for a white car. Guns drawn etc, me on the ground, hand cuffed, bent over a cop car.
I over hear the radio, "Its not white car but a red car. Are you guys idiots?"
The cop at least apologized to me. Shook hands and drove off.
