I have been with Dreamhost for about 5 years. They have been pretty bad int he last year, i keep getting calls from clients that their sites are down, or don't load, etc. I had Media Temple Grid before that and it was really bad. I am thinking about giving them another shot. Should I do it or find another provider?
Maybe worthwhile upgrading to a dedicated server for your clients and collecting a monthly fee from them directly.
Look for something with an service level agreement that guarantees uptime and performance.
you don't get business-class hosting for $10/mo
- i have VPS, paying for extra ram. has to do with downtime DH.ArmandoEstrada
- and i still get server resets with the extra RAM.ArmandoEstrada
- I've never used these guys VPS service, but they seem to be straight shooters, and their shared service is pretty good.
i've been at dreamhost for awhile and the past week has been a fucking nightmare. i've not really had many problems with them, but 24 hour downtime for 3 or 4 days and then only intermittent uptime after is just not cool.
I read the thread title as 'Wasting Hoes'.
This thread is not as pimp as I was expecting.
I've never had any issues with MediaTemple... do tell what happened
Get MediaTemple DV and you'll be happy. I put serious clients on there and have never had an issue. Their fee to me pays my fee to Mediatemple + any time required to look after little things now and then.
Use 'retailmenot' as a promo code and get the $500/year deal for $400... or basically 20% of whatever you hook up with for the live of the plan (so it doesnt go back up to $500 the second year.. )
also i email them with minor settings requests and they do them for me because all their support staff are paid by how helpful they are and how people rate them.
has anyone tried IXWEBHOSTING.COM?
Thanks for suggestion. I signed back up with MT, ill kick the tires for a few weeks before my 30 days are up and see....
