Thinking about picking up a Hero2 tonight, but also curious about the Drift (http://driftinnovation.com/) and Contour (http://contour.com/) cameras. Anyone own a drift or contour camera and have opinions?

hola. I use a Hero2, and have used the original Hero as well. Friends have used the Contour and the Drift cameras, which are both side mounted and decent cameras.
The biggest selling points for H2 (IMHO):
• Forward facing mounts (instead of side mounts)
• Tons of accessories and optional mountain positions
• GREAT footage quality considering
• Totally waterproof container (several friends have ruined the contours by dunking them)
• Wide angle lens is really nice for establishing sense of place for the viewer.Downside:
• Clunky form factor
• Audio could be better (wind is not a problem, but rain or snow have a distracting snap sound when they hit the camera).
• Confusing to learn how to use until you get it setup the way you like (the on/off record is nice)

i was gonna get the go pro, but when i seen it, it looked cheap and there wasnt an lcd for previewing if i recall correctly which is kind of important. that drift looks interesting.

I got the hero2. Fucking awesome toy. Heading up skiing this weekend and can't wait to really test it out. I mounted it on my car this AM and recorded my commute. Too much fun,

the go pro has TONS of accesories, and will be easier to trade with friends, because these days everyone has one.
It also comes with a waterproof case, which works great for snow or water.
If I didn't get the gopro, I would get the contour, because it looks fairly small.

GoPro. It just works, and great at that.

getting ready to buy the GoproHero2, was wondering though, as im looking through the manual I dont see an option for this but, is there an AC adapter for the GoproHero2 while recording? like if i needed to record 10 hours of footage?

never mind, just found this:
"You can charge the camera’s battery while recording video or taking photos. Simply plug the camera into any USB-based wall, car, or phone charger to charge the HD HERO2 camera while recording video or photos."
i searched for "ac adapter" didnt think to search "wall" I guess they made this manual for the not so tech type peeps. hehe- if you're shooting video, i think it will bust up long movies into 2G filesfugged

The wide fast lens of the hero2 is unbeatable

just got a hero2 as a gift, interface is a little finicky and it doesnt do great at night but for everything else its rad. The accessories thing is also huge.
