C4D alpha problem

I am trying to render a PSD with an alpha that will show transparency in a texture. I get the alpha channel but it's pure white instead of a shade of grey. (The texture is semi-transparent.). I don't believe this is a limit of the software since that's a deal breaker for so many situations. Here is a screen shot of my render settings and texture.
Any suggestions welcome.

try rendering out a multi pass of material transparency. alpha and transparency are two different things.

i just tried your setup in a new scene and it works as expected. try a new scene with the same setup?
the multipass trick: in your render setttings there's the multi pass button. select material transparency in the dropdown. make sure that multipass is checked. try it and see if you have the same result as your original alpha.
also, post a scene file?
- I didn't see a material transparency option or a dropdown, but I'm good with the object buffer/composite tagCyBrainX
