So my little brother in Mexico City is totally set on getting a pair of these. He doesn't want the wireless ones that are $360 he wants the HD ones at $299 in the orange color.
He is going to send me the money to purchase them I told him he can spend his money on whatever he wants but he is crazy!
These are the ones he wants:
He keeps seeing them on a bunch of hip-hop videos and since he can't buy them down there they are a must have for him.
Has anyone actually listened to these yet? What is so special about them? He is not a DJ he's only going to use them at home and on the subway.
all i know is i see them in future shop as try-ons and the always busted up. i think they're about 50% hype per $ ratio.
I just got a refund on the earbuds version after the volume/phone control went for the 3rd time! Dr Dre needs BEATS for putting his name to this crappy product.
He's most likely to get jumped by some lame ass gang bangers for a bunch of cheap plastic put together in some Chinese workshop!
Monster makes shit tons of money on overpriced crappy cables.
They come out with headphones that are overpriced and suddenly they are of amazing quality? Get real.
I tried my 19 dollar cheapo ear buds VS the expensive beats ones, and they sound the same.
I have $150 Shure DJ headphones, and they rock my face off.
Musician marketed headphones are a bad idea, these and and the ones by Ludacris are trash. Does he want it to sound good or look like a brand whore? Those are his options.
something something, a fool and his money
The bass response and overall frequency response are good, not great. They are however in constant noise cancelation mode (you can't use them without it), which makes your ears grow tired after long listening sessions. Noise cancelation causes a sensation you either get used to or grow to hate, kinda feels like constant air pressure on your ears.
yeah, you're just paying for the Dr Dre name, Monster has a terrible reputation.
How old is your brother?
unfortunately I think he is going for the look. maybe this will be a good lesson for him if they break and he spends $300 on them. I doubt I will be able to talk him out of it. Jesus, just thinking, 'china/plastic/marketing' makes me cringe..
Paying for a brand name!
There's a few good headphones threads on here if he's actually after something that's WORTH the money.
Find the headphones Dre REALLY USES in the studio and show him those.
If I was 20 and into Hip Hop I'd probably want them too but if I was an older brother I'd probably want to get my little bro something just as good quality, cheaper and stealthier so they don't get jacked on the subways of Mexico City.
