For those of you who have both a DSLR and a film camera...
How often do you shoot film vs digital? Do you neglect film more due to extra work of having them processed or scanned? Or price having to buy film? Im thinking about getting a film body (I havent shot film in well over 10 years, getting the itch to do it again). Im asking in terms of personal work rather then for client work.
Thanks for your input!

i love having my 35mm around but only use it when i really want to shoot film. Digital is the everyday go to. it has to be.

I still shoot film sometimes for personal work... 120 b/w is amazing....
note that I do a test with a digicam beforehand often as my digital light meter, wasting less film than I did in the film age....
I haven't had a client patient enough for film in years unfortunately....

I was thinking about this recently in relation to the most expensive photo ever sold: http://www.npr.org/blogs/picture…
I read somewhere else that it was shot on film.
I guess to me film has a quality that can elevate a photo to "artwork" more easily than digital. But I think much of that comes from the fact that it forces you to slow down and really consider composition before pushing the shutter button. Having a physical, tangible final product is nice too, of course.
I haven't shot film in almost 10 years either, and while I think it'd be fun to do I'm a sucker for what's easiest.

Thanks guys.
Ive got someone selling me a Rolleiflex for a really great price. Shooting with one of those seems really interesting and fun. I just wish it was as convenient as shooting digital.

is it a TLR? I loved, loved, loved my old Rollei 3.5 E. Planar, one of the best things I ever had.... note that you want to NOT leave film in it for a long time before you shoot, the first shot may be slightly out of focus due to kinks in the roller from being left too long... load and shoot the same day!

I really, really love my Minolta Autocord too... got it after the Rollei was stolen...argh, long story....
