PHOTOSHOP CS5.1 crop tool bug? 1111 Responses

anyone have an idea why no matter what area I choose to crop (using the crop tool) wether it be 1000x1000 pixels or 10x10 pixels, it always crops it to 1x1pixel, even though i can cleary see the area i am going to crop beforehand.
it just completely ignores whatever area i select. does this happen to anyone else? is there a fix, or did i just manage and fuck up a setting that is causing it? it's bizzare.
help or ideas appreciated.

Click "Clear" at the top of the screen.

you must have values in the width/height fields. delete and push enter.

Now that you know, you should make yourself VERY familiar with the Crop tool's settings along that bar. I'm NOT being a dick, nor am I a Photoshop junkie, but this is introductory stuff. Cheers!
