Anybody ever just purged all their stuff or felt like doing it for a fresh start?

Well I've always been into artwork, design stuff, so anything that caught my eye like a nice mag or book for instance. I feel an attachment to the material visually and somewhat mentally as a designer, but do we really need to have around to create or be influenced?

Example - H.G. Wells didn't have the internet or DVDs etc, but created some of the most memorable stories of the era and they still are very much relevant to this day.

This one time I ate some mushrooms. Then, because they were poison mushrooms, I purged. It was cool though, soon I was feeling fine and running around the forest with an axe. Ok, so it was a hatchet, but still, I totally scared some dudes off! It was pretty fun, I felt pretty creative. Maybe the purging helped...

I tried it about a year or two ago. It worked for a while. I was reading Everett Bogue and zenhabits and all that junk.
Then it eventually wore off. The other day I was looking for a great book as a reference, Special Effects in Print, and I remembered that I sold it like a fucking idiot when I tried this crappy lifestyle.

Just have a spring clean and throw out all the junk you've accumulated. Keep worthwhile things related to work though, or you'll most likely regret it in the future like Mr Mullins up there.
If you haven't touched it in 12 months out it goes... clothes, fiction, kids toys, old computer paraphernalia, broken furniture, knick knacks (or crap knacks as my friend calls them). Anything of value should go to a charity that will reuse them.

Think of the value of the purge as being more than the intrinsic or cash value of that which you are getting rid of.

Doing a room-by-room purge this weekend. Clothes, kitchen stuff, magazines and other paper stuff that have been building up for years.

When I relocated across the country, I moved with only my computer and a bag of clothes. Everything I sold or gave away. The fresh start was liberating and I highly recommend it to anyone if it's an option.
- I moved to this country with $10 and a small rucksack of clothes. Got held at immigration for 3 hrs, but picked up in a limo.mikotondria3
