changing a folder icon MAC

when I change a folders icon, I then get a 'icon exec' file in that folder. If I trash it, it trashes the folders icon too. This never used to happen. I'm using Snow Leopard. How do I get around this. I don't want those 'cion exec' files in my folders. And does this happen in LION too?

This happens when you do a simple copy/paste in the Get Info windows?

This doesn't happen to anyone else? If not, it's an issue with my computer specifically. If yes, then there's gotta be a quick fix.

I'm on Lion and it does not happen for me. ...maybe an update to a bug then?

It's just an irritating issue that never used to happen. But it's not crippling my work flow. So I'll be ok.
