Co-worker who addresses me by name every conversation we have, even when we're the only ones in a room. I don't know why, but it gets on my nerves. Dude, I know you're talking to me.

    • I read somewhere that people like to hear their names, or have people say their names and that it builds a connection. I agree w/ you herebklyndroobeki
    • when someone I'm texting types my name in a convo. Annoying as hell.bklyndroobeki

People who take international vacations and feel the need to post on Facebook about everything they're doing as they're doing it. There's an acceptable level of doing this - maybe once in a trip, but I find people to be completely vapid when their vacation is dictated by sharing what they're doing in real time.

People need to live in the moment more. They need to put away their dependance on social media for just long enough to experience something for themselves rather than for the need to tell everyone about it. It drives me crazy.

    • People still post daily updates on FB?omahadesigns
    • Go to rainforest, bring selfie stick.omahadesigns
    • People live in the sight of the otherBen99
    • omaha - there are people who post hourly updates on their activities. I have a relative who craves attention and loves to brag, and they post constantly...mg33
    • ... glamorizing average things to feel important. they're in the Caribbean right now and will probably post 10 times each day.mg33
    • And this is going to be worst in the future. It's just the beginningBen99
    • Taking pictures and sharing them on social network is the way to feel alive. it's the way to officialize something. otherwise its like it never happend.Ben99
    • But that's the thing Ben - you can do so AFTER the thing happens. People live and die by the acceptance they get from instant approval. It's gross.mg33
    • Amen to original postset
    • I agree, i'm the worse at putting pics up in real time. also those who travel and have the need to document every single moment. you're missing out people.sea_sea
    • sea_sea, I have a backlog of travel photos going back to 2010. It's worked out, actually, to have new stuff to edit and post to my sites whenever I want.mg33

    • I understand both sides of the argument. People like to post their vaca pics but then again yeah they may not appreciate the moment.docpoz

^ it's worse at events like concerts.

    • Yep. I'll guarantee you that 99% of the photos taken are to use as proof to others that you were there, not as any memento for themselves of that moment.mg33

Client has a blog section on her website where 90% of her posts are of other people's work. She treats her company blog like a tumblr and doesn't even write anything. It's just photos and website links.

She probably thinks she's great for 'exposing' people to other's work, but it seems amateur. She's a company and her blog can't even post original content.

What you having kids for if you need a full time nanny?

    Cuntpunch.

    • YOU WANT TO SAY THAT TO MY FACE?mg33
    • The answer is obvious, set. Many couples rely on both people to work and provide income. For many it would be impossible to have one parent stay home.mg33
    • For some, it's challenging also to just afford a nanny with two parents working. Avg. $17-$22K a year.mg33
    • Don't have kids if you don't have time to bring them up. Simple as that.set
    • lol @ "the answer is obvious". I understand the concept of not having time to raise your kids. I'm saying don't fucking have kids if you're going to...set
    • palm them off to someone else for 90% of the time.set
    • Who the fuck are you to judge, set? Do you even have kids or a partner?mg33
    • I am a human being with self awareness, therefore I have every right to judge.set
    • It's nothing but selfishness and self importance. Don't have kids if you don't have the time to dedicate to them.set
    • You're math is wrong too. Common arrangement with nannies have them watching kids while the parents are at work - about 40 hours a week.mg33
    • There are 168 hours in a week. That's 23% of the week, not 90%. But keep generalizing, please.mg33
    • I wasn't planning on getting into a personal debate, but I imagine if my words offend you then you recognise the truth in them.set
    • You're an asshole, set. You're literally calling people like me out about shit you have no idea about.mg33
    • You seem extremely touchy about it, so I assume you recognise some truth in what I say.set
    • Making such a wild accusation that parents who use a nanny are selfish and have too much self importance. Ignorance to the nth degree.mg33
    • I see no truth in what you're saying. I see a judgmental fool on a high horse.mg33
    • Why do I have no idea about it? I understand the concept 100%, thank you very much.set
    • Sorry, I really don't mean to offend you, but it's self importance because you feel like you want and deserve kids, yet you don't have the time to raise them.set
    • You have no idea what you're talking about when you make a judgement that parents who use a nanny are selfish and don't care about their kids.mg33
    • Because my wife and I do, we care about our child tremendously, and have her in the care of a responsible adult during the hours we have to work.mg33
    • I never said you don't care about your kids.set
    • "don't have the time to raise them."
That is where you are wrong. Parents who use nannies aren't not raising them.
      mg33
    • Well, you're generalizing about all parents. Saying such parents are selfish and self important implies that they don't care about their kids.mg33
    • Part time raising. Which I don't think is correct. You have no place to tell me I cannot have an opinion.set
    • Oh, you're entitled to your opinion. I'm just telling you it's incredibly judgmental and not accurate for all parents.mg33
    • I don't doubt that you care about your kid. But if someone has to place their child in the care of a stranger for the majority of the day, 5 days out of 7...set
    • then it's selfish. It's because people feel like they deserve kids. Unless you can dedicate yourself to it, don't have one. My opinion.set
    • A stranger? No, we know our nanny very well. But I guess I'm just a shitty parent by your logic, because my wife and I need to work.mg33
    • To say I'm not entitled to that opinion, simply because you don't agree with it, is ridiculous.set
    • stranger = not the child's mother or father. You may very well be a wonderful parent, when you're there. That's beside the point.set
    • set, i don't know many individuals who have the luxury of spending 90% of time with their kid. it's a privilege for 1 parent to stay home. i don't have kids butbklyndroobeki
    • have friends who have em. i think it's harder than you can imagine. it's not selfish at all. one thing that i wish we had in this dog eat dog world IS to bringbklyndroobeki
    • At least one parent should raise the child. If you have to employ someone else to raise your child, you probably shouldn't have children.set
    • a child up in community rather than hiring a "nanny" so you're right there. but to say it's selfish, i think that's a misplaced word there.bklyndroobeki
    • It's selfish because you want kids. That's the only reason you have a kid, because you WANT one. If you don't have time to raise it but you choose to have one..set
    • That's selfish, in my opinion.set
    • I honestly don't mean to upset or offend anyone. I think the only reason it would upset or offend anyone, however, is because there is truth in it.set
    • We do a nanny share with our downstairs neighbors. Ours is 4 months old and theirs is 5 1/2. It's been great for them to bond with each other, and we save $mg33
    • Again, you're implying a nanny "raises" children. They don't do anything we wouldn't do, or don't allow them to do. It's not like some free for all.mg33
    • The values, educational focus, growth activities, those are all dictated by parents themselves.mg33
    • Please don't explain yourself, I'm sure you love your kid(s) and are a great parent with the best intentions. I just strongly believe at least one parent shouldset
    • be with them all of the time, certainly when they are very young, otherwise whats the point of having one. My opinion.set
    • but it's good to know you think I'm an arsehole and a fool who who doesn't have the right to an opinion, simply because it's different from yours.set
    • I disagree with the sweeping generalizations you've made as a non-parent. Some things make more sense when you walk in those shoes.mg33
    • Kind of like how you and I aren't in a position to judge how brain surgeons perform certain techniques, when we know nothing about their skills.mg33
    • Makes perfect sense to me already, thank you.set
    • So how do you feel about home schooling vs. public schooling?mg33
    • Are parents also selfish for sending their kids to school, and letting teachers shape influence them, instead of home schooling them?mg33
    • bammoldero
    • that's a really good arrangement mg33, good on ya!bklyndroobeki
    • we had one when my daughter was a baby and I worked from home, she was only around for 6 hours but it allowed me to workmoldero
    • Thank you bklyndroobeki! It's working out really well. We're good friends with the neighbors, it's been good so far.mg33

A client referred me to his friend who needed some small updates to their shitty html website that looks like it's from 2008. I said I could do it and new client sends me a 2 page NDA. I don't even know what I can learn about the company by updating a few graphics and scripts. smh, people are paranoid.
