How can they fall in line with what every other bank is doing when no other banks are doing this?

Yea they are it was in another article that yahoo wrote when they first announced it. I believe suntrust was one and there was another mentioned as well

^ BofA's fee will apply regardless of HOW you use (credit vs. debit). The minute you swipe your card anywhere, tack on an extra $5 that month.

@iheartfun: I guess you were right — http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/3… I hadn't read anything about other banks doing this too. For shame!
- Tis ok. ITS SUCKS ROYALLY cause I use them too.iheartfun

I don't use BofA, but another big one that's probably just as bad and will follow in their footsteps.
I've been thinking of moving to the local bank that's literally 2 blocks from my house. Just need a basic low fee checking account. And just go old school cash from now on. No more BS needed.

That is annoying. It sucks how much money you can spend to use your own money, I guess we will now pat the price of convenience. I wonder if this will have any affect on the stats they get from purchasing habits if people return to using cash? I know the last time my bank called me about a "fraud protection" company, after some serious digging I found out that the service was being offered by an outside company that worked for them, which upon further research turned out to be a marketing company. You can be sure my financial and personal security was not their top priority. This seems like a retarded thing to do.

1. Banks get bailed out.
2. Government puts new regulation in place, putting caps on overdraft fees, etc.
3. ???
4. Bank profits from $5 a month charge for using a service you have already had since day one.

I am switching to this once it's out https://banksimple.com/

The silver lining:
I now have a good reason to get a money clip. Perhaps I can find something vintage from the 60s.

They'll likely lose a helluvalot of customers.
There are so many banks that don't charge fees. My credit card (through USAA), doesn't charge me to use ATM's and even reimburse the fees that other banks charge.

Looks like your safe with Citibank and PNC and probably all credit unions
