This redesign seems off-base to me. As several people have said, it has HUGE (for the unwashed: http://www.hugeinc.com/) written all over it.
I am really really surprised at how terrible the grid work is. There are so many elements that are not systemic, and there does not seem to be any sort of styling governance for sub-links, etc.
The Google AdWords insertion is hilarious. I saw that Bloomberg.com and Morningstar.com had AdWords the other day, which blew my mind. I guess there are big pushes internally to monetize these sites in any way possible, not just serve up rich, customizable content.
