Adobe really are total cunts and no mistake. I'm glad I still use Quark - yeah - FUCK YOU ADOBE!
It's not even as if it stops piracy - a quick search reveals all manner of torrents....

The missing text:

My macbook HD went down and when I tried to install Illustrator CS3 back on it I get the splash page "too many activations", buy another license. No "please call this number and we'll sort you out"
I found a couple of numbers on so-called customer support but just get put on hold indefinitely. I've emailed them - nothing. I've even tweeted their careline.

why the censor?
- "activations"?, "license"? I'm curious how it works now.CyBrainX

Get back at those counts. Download CS5.5 and crack that shit.

can't you just get some serials to ractive it while waiting to reach someone from adobe?

wow... the tweeting worked - they replied and I have it up and running.

You flipped out because you either dialed the wrong number or were put on hold and that justifies calling the entire company cunts? Also, how does your HD failure play into this; you can't honestly say that installing the software messed up your computer, can you? This is coming from the one guy who still uses Quark but is trying to install an ancient copy of CS. Whatever, no hard feelings, but the thread and the rant seem totally unjustified. Peace.
- I hated Quark much more than anything Adobe ever did.CyBrainX

the HD failure comes into play because when I replace the failed HD with a new one and try and reinstall software I own legally it won't allow me to. The company that produces said software (in this case Adobe) offers no assistance in where to look for help. Their website offers two numbers to call, neither of which are answered within 10 minutes. Only by trawling the interweb do I find out(from other equally hacked off customers who have had the same trouble as me) where I might go to get assistance, in this case the Adobe twitter account (no mention of which is made on their website).
To me, treating one's paying customers in this way suggests the company is run by cunts. Except for Bev, who dealt with my problem swiftly.

You know what is even more annoying? When you have multiple copies of CS across the studio, one hd goes down, and you need to reinstall.
Now, which serial number were you using on that particular computer? Who the fuck knows! You'd think you could just check which serial you have on the other computers, and work it out that way, but noooooo. No way can you see which serial you've used for your particular installation.
So instead you have to take a guess at which serial number to use and hope it doesn't fuck up due to the number of activations.
- Why didn't you make a note of it?animatedgif
- We just didn't. I imagine most wouldn't do that. It shouldn't be so difficult to find out afterwards.Nathan_Adams
- If they're worried about people checking others machines for serials, then truncate it.Nathan_Adams

Creative Suite these days is like the 'before' cast of Biggest Loser.

Huh, they've been very helpful with my legal versions, getting updated serial numbers, etc., both on the phone and online chatting.
If you think that is a pain, go try Autodesk licenses! You have to "export" from one, then "import" to another computer. Makes Adobe look like a cake walk.
[hopefully there'll be a better system someday, but for now serial numbers/activation are it, at least if you choose to be legal]
- Better system? I think the Mac App Store is getting there (although not perfect).Nathan_Adams
- better licensing system - personally I hate anything Apple-store related...more headaches thereformed

Hans chill out. Call them again. They should be able to reset it for you. They did for me.
