Thanks everyone.
I went with this.
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/su…I considered this tilt shift

But it felt very strange and I thought I'd get more practical use from the 16-35mm and have f2.8 ans opposed to f4- Damn Mr. Rockefeller. Nice choice. Let's see some pics.co2

So, I took the new lens (Big Willie) to the High Line Park today.

I'm selling a canon 14mm f2.8 on ebay at the moment, it's a superb lens but ain't cheap, I've just bought a sigma 14mm f2.8 which is fairly similar but a fraction of the price. Got the 16-35 and don't really rate it too much.

All the photos on this site are taken with the Canon 16-35 II f2.8 L. It's a lovely lens. http://feetfirstphotos.tumblr.co…

BUMP!
Ok so I think I am dropping the cash on a brand new Canon 17-40mm f/4.0L
I don't have the extra thousand for the 16-35mm 2.8, plus I keep reading reviews about the 17-40 and it's superior picture quality.
I will be traveling to Europe in the Fall so this will be my wide lens. I am hoping my 5DM2 and it's excellent ISO performance will make up for any issues when trying to take wide shots in low light w/out a tripod.
For any nice landscapes I will have my tripod anyway.
any thoughts??
- i bought 17-40 refurb from canon for $650. it's my favorite lens. it came like brand new.lambsy

I know several landscape photogs that use it with great success. it's lighter than the 16 too.

I am just worried about the speed at f/4.0 when shooting people and indoors. but the reality is i just cannot afford the extra G for the 16-35mm and I refuse to go off brand.

yr fine if you use flash, but with people and indoors, do you have a fast prime you can use in those situations and save the 17–40 for other stuff?

I only have the 50mm 1.8,
Should I consider a fast prime wide angle?

HijoDMaite, you can get a Canon 24mm F2.8 prime for about $250-300 the AF is buzzy, but the image qualtiy is great
The Canon 28 F1.8 isn't that wide angle, especially on an APS-C body, but it's quiet to focus... corners a bit blurry at full-frame till you hit F3.5

I bought a Sigma 10-20mm the other week. It's seems pretty good for what I need it for, and for £300 it was relatively cheap
