Hey guys, here at the office we are getting rid of a used mac...
the specs:
2006 model: 2 x 3Ghz Quad Core Intel // 16GB RAM // 320GB drive // wi-fi // os 10.4 // NO bluetooth for $1023.Should I buy it, or is that too much for a 5 year old machine? Does the RAM make it worth it? Thanks for your input.

$750.00 is a probably a fair price even though it has that much ram. I wouldn't buy it though the older 2006 mac pro towers are not upgradeable with their graphics cards I know because I have a 2007 and I just am able to keep this thing current but it is off spec and not tested the way I am running it. Also before you buy any comp with that much memory test it in the profile specs to make sure their are zero errors and make sure you test it only after running a few programs.
That all being said don't buy it for the same reasons to not buy a pc with better specs at that price. Because when you buy a mac pro directly from apple you're pretty much guaranteeing atleast 2 years of service and ideally 6 years of service. I bought my 2007 model mac pro and have been running it on 4 years now so far it has been a good investment. good luck.
