Share you story about Facebook. An interactive social media experiment to an intercultural cross-media playground for a good cause: Facebook has more than 500 million active users with an average of 130 friends each. All together FB users spend more than 700 billion minutes a month in the social network. Why? Who are all these people? In our book project, 1000 Faces – Share Your Story About Facebook, we try to get to the bottom of these questions, and in the process we support charity organizations. Starting the 15th of March 2011, FB users worldwide can upload their picture to our Facebook page and tell their personal story – why they really are part of the huge network. Detached from the bulk of anonymous profiles, with a participation number that is visible to every user, each participant becomes an active part of the project within the social media giant, Facebook. From all the pictures collected, photographer Stefan Milev (www.stefanmilev.com) and our creative director Marko Puclin will choose the 1000 most interesting faces and stories and turn them into a hardcover book.
It’s going to be an interactive, intercultural playground where a lot of diverse people with different motives will meet; where voyeurism and differing media styles get activated. This gathers a very exciting energy and momentum of its own. The printed result of this photographic networking will be available online and in bookstores throughout the world. The entire returns will be donated to two non-profit organizations: Earth Focus (www.earthfocus.org) is a foundation that provides a platform to encourage young people to express their views on the environment and solutions to ecological problems and serves as a voice to promote these views. Aloha in Action (AIA) is an initiative and our partner, led by the Hawaiian UN Peace Education Award winner Lei’ohu Ryder. AIA supports aid programs for communities, families and individuals in impoverished regions and countries with a strong focus on humanitarian development.
