Laziness here...
What's up with DVD region?
If I want to buy some DVD form Criterion Collection (which are built for american market) do I need to buy also a DVD player with the same region?
Consider I live in Europe...

No. I'm back and forth between Region 1 and 2 for years. It's stupid, but there are ways around it. Are you talking about your computer DVD player, or one for your TV?

A TV player.

Eh there are region-free DVD players, which play all region numbers. I think aside from that, though, is the NTSC/PAL encoding on DVDs, unless I'm mistaken.
- Don't forget about SECAM in France and Eastern Europe too.ETM

Yeah. Just buy a region-free DVD player, that's what I have. Otherwise you can rip the DVD's onto your computer, then re-burn it onto a DVD (choosing the region-free settings in whatever program you use) but that's a lot of effort.
