i've seen this many times- usually it means go home and kiss the ones you love.
sorry- nothing helpful. i've had some of these that i've saved for years, just hoping that they'll come out of retirement.

Yeah....case closed. I just even tried to get it open on a freaking PC (!!!!) and it's a goner. FUCK. So...now I know what a corrupt file message looks like...

It's been a while but this has worked for me in the past:
- Try opening the file in Acrobat
- If it opens, then use the "Touch Up Object" tool (> Tools > Advanced Editing) to select an element and move it a bit by using a directional key on your keyboard.
- Save and close.
- Open in Illy (dialogue will appear saying the file "Has been Modified outside of Illy" and ask if you want to save changes - Click ok.Save my file a couple of times.
Good luck

Access Time Machine or other backup because your file is fucked.
Honestly you will have to start over. It has happened to me a few times and it is the only thin you can do.
Save frequently / back-up often.

Do you have clipart vector pieces you didn't create in your project? Normally that kind of error pops up if you buy stock vector with a limited/expired license.

It looks like you're missing an end-of-illustration tag in the file. Possibly... I have no idea how that would be possible unless you've manually edited the file in a text editor... but anyhow. If you're a 1337 haxor have a look at this thing I made waaaaaay back in 2004:
When you generate an Illustrator file (in this case Illustrator 3 because its the simplest file format) you'll see that the files are really just text. (Post-script text actually.) So open up your corrupt in a text editor (TextMate is a good one) and see if adding " %%Trailer %%EOF" to the end of your document helps. Or if copying and pasting chunks of your file into the one generated on the Cellular Automata page works out. Sorry I don't have more specifics... would have to really investigate your file itself to understand what's up.
- Ya know, I've rebuilt, but I'm totally going to try this anyways. Reporting back soon!Bargels

does the file works if you open it in photoshop?
- Yeah--and all the elements show up! I think it just got too heavy and killed itself.Bargels
