iTunes movie to DVD?

So as a Christmas present, someone has asked me for a movie that is only available in VHS form (came out in 1976 and never been switched to DVD). Since she has no VHS player, I was planning on buying it on iTunes, and converting it to a playable DVD for her.
Does anyone know how to do this? What programs I need? I've been Googling, but thought I'd ask the pros too...

I have not been successful converting or burning anything I've bought off of iTunes to DVD. I tried burning Sons of Anarchy season 2 for my folks last year, but no luck. There may be some DRM remove options out there, though. I didn't bother looking further, though.

mpeg streamclip is great if you want to covert it. just don't think it removes any DRM.

the $99 solution? apple TV
seriously, i don't think there's any getting around apple's DRM. any videos you buy from them are locked into itunes on your computer, iphone, ipad, or apple tv.
