There is no question that instant mutual attraction happens. Some of those couple will make it long term, a lot will not. It's a numbers game.

Yeah, I think it happens too .. but I think it's difficult to work out how. Rationally it doesn't make sense .. that sometimes you can get the sense that you've known someone for a long time, after meeting them for the first time.
