I don't understand. What are you trying to protect, and from who?

Why not use a web solution?
Make page which will lock it self after a certain time frame.

its going to be public soon enough. but right now the client is worried about the information leaking before said time.

Does it have to be PDF?
- JSK0
Is it text based? Image only? Both?
Does it need to scalable in size?
Does it need to be attached?

I would slap a expiring password on the PDF and set it when you send it.
I think that would be the cheapest and least complex solution.

doesn't need to be pdf, tho final output will be pdf.
content consist of charts and graphs.(text and images)
for this application (to show image holder of usage) it does not need to be scalable./ vector based. i can host. and the main objective is to retain control of save/ print option. the image holder is a real estate agent so i dont think she's too technically savvy.it doesn't need to be an attachment.
thank you all..

- But seriously, you could also add a disclaimer about not distributing it any furthermonospaced

Print it using disappearing ink.

You can insert a Flash file URL into a PDF. You can then write code in the Flash file that will make it expire after it has been opened once. So, let's say you have a screenshot of some design or text, pop that into a SWF and then into a PDF. Have the Flash file write a variable to a text file once it's opened. Every time the SWF is opened it also checks that variable in the text file to see if it's equal to something or not.
That's one way to do it without using ACS.
- The text file and SWF would be hosted on your server...fyoucher1

there is, i got a script from a studio a few weeks ago that came with all these instructions
• once you open it you have to keep it open until you're done because once it closes the file won't open again
• it cannot be printed or screen-grabbed
• it will dial home on its own to report usage/abuse information
i have no idea how it was done and was scared to tamper with it in order to find out (the risk would be too great for simple curiousity)
- and yeah, it was a PDF. it was a script so was all type. not sure if it was "live" type.scarabin
- holy cow. That is kind of terrifying. Call home? What if you have little snitch?VikingKingEleven
- sounds like a fun script.plash

(sigh)
Here is the legal way to do this. You need to add this to every page.
“Confidential property of Company Name, Inc. Not to be forwarded or copied. Anyone who inadvertently receives a copy should return it immediately to Company Name, Inc.”
Change Company Name to your business.
Second, put a password protect with expiration on your document and lock the printing.
Thanks.
VKE- <--Right Answer.VikingKingEleven
- already discussed. but thanksplash
- Add the Confidentiality line so you're legal covered. No point in doing a script if you are covered legally.VikingKingEleven
- but a script would give you peace of mind and it would be pretty coolVikingKingEleven
- true that and good point . thanksplash

You can do that with Adobe Content Server

since it's a pdf, why not send them a low-resolution? or are you afraid they'll try to recreate it?
