I went on a job interview two weeks ago. The talk was great, the company told me the liked my work a lot and was really interested in me. They even gave me a little "marketing challenge" to do a couple of rough comps on. I did those, and they seemed to really like the layout and concepts.
Here I am two weeks later and no word. I feel like I should have heard something by now. Am I being too impatient?

Seems too long.
I thought an interview of mine went really well and didn't hear anything for about 10 days. Then I decided to give them a call and they basically told me, "Sorry, you were supposed to have been contacted. We can't offer you the position at this time."
I think some companies will just decide to avoid any sort of confrontation by not contacting you as a way of telling you that you didn't get the job. Not saying that's the case with you, but that practice annoys the hell out of me.

I would follow up... that way you know for sure what's up.

Pick up the phone mate, no point sitting about wondering and waiting. Seems a bit long but, aye.

Move to NY. We need some serious help over here.

Yeah. A friendly phone call works well. Email is a little easier to ignore, but I might follow up a missed call with an email.

Was going to email, but I'll try the call. Might have to wait until Monday. Suddenly got swamped at my other job.

OK, never mind. Called, left voice mail.
It's just odd to go that far and not even get a "Sorry we went in a different direction."
F'it it's friday, cheers!

did you send an email to the interviewer thanking them for the taking the time to meet with you and for you to get to know them? perhaps they didn't feel the interest was mutual.

For several months I went through this kind of stuff. It's easy to feel rejected, and following up is also hit-or-miss. In my desperation to get a job, I applied for just about anything and found myself competing with students (it was an all-time low) for jobs. I called one shop after a couple of weeks of not hearing from them, and they were extremely candid saying that I was actually overqualified for the position and that they felt I would be unsatisfied with the work. So...I guess my advice to you is to look at it another way. You might be too good for them.

The big thing was, I was kinda uncertain at the time if I wanted to leave my current position for this one, and I let them know that.
The owner saw through me, saw that I did their comps, and said to send him an email by that Monday to let him know if I was truly interested in the position.
I sent him an email that next day, Saturday morning, saying that I enjoyed meeting them and to please keep me in consideration.

aliastime - companies will tell you they will be contacting you within the next 2 weeks of something, but the truth is they are not ready to make a decision. They will say that by default but they may not be ready to fill the position for maybe weeks to come.

"Sorry, you were supposed to have been contacted. We can't offer you the position at this time, but thanks for your well organized PSDs, they'll come in useful."

Sometimes, a job might disappear. An account falls through, red tape, miscellaneous corporate bull shit.

show us your work, maybe we can help

Let's be serious here for a moment: I would only hire seriously hot chicks for any position I was looking to fill. Srsly.
