A Nova Southeastern University study found players aren't just consuming caffeine and energy drinks. Twenty-eight percent reported taking at least one prescription medication to improve poker performance; 34 percent reported using marijuana and 8 percent, cocaine.

There's a huge difference in knowing the game
and really knowing the game.I prefer to only play live cash games.

Let me know if you need information on it. I have a few friends that play online poker professionally. It's not nearly as dodgy as you think, and if you're serious about it, there's a few things you should know BEFORE starting your account to maximize profit potential (rakeback, first deposit bonuses, etc). It can be awesome (and really shitty of course), but there's definitely a few tools out there that can help to become a winning player.

is there not a case where up to like 5 or 6 people who know each other
will play against you ... I know that its possible to do even in a live cash game but its so much easier to do online and just talk on headsets about how much to raise and re-raise and basically pull a squeeze play everytime.

this seems to be the newest thread... figured i'd bump it and see if there are any players on here (though i know Americans can't play online).
started playing again a few weeks ago after not playing for about a year. slowly building a roll again. i play limit mostly (triple draw and ten game) and no-limit hold'em tournaments, though i don't have time for tournaments now with a full-time job, etc...

Used to play online for money awhile back. Made some actual money but never got around to withdrawing it. Then, when it was made illegal here, the account was suspended and I may never see the money again. Feh.

Here's the email they sent me:
Dear [username deleted],
As a player on Full Tilt Poker, you may be aware of the recent settlement reached with the U.S. Department of Justice (the "DOJ").
Full Tilt Poker will not offer real money online poker in the U.S. until it is permissible to do so under relevant law.
In relation to your account balance, you will have the opportunity to file petition with the DOJ through a remission process which will be administrated by the DOJ.
In light of the above, only play chip games will be available to Full Tilt Poker players in the U.S. following re-launch, in the first week of November, 2012. Your Full Tilt Points balance will remain intact in your account.
Please note that we are unable to answer queries in relation to your funds - all such questions should be directed to the DOJ in accordance with the procedure to be defined by them.
Please retain this email for your records.
Sincerely,
Full Tilt Poker
