Actually I find quite annoying the 'coolness fee' of a shit salary for having an interesting (it actually isn't that interesting) job.

If I'm born again I will be DEV!
    ...or even worse, accountant O_o

    • An accountant? You are clearly mad and not v.creative at allckentish1/3
oi boss, don't get me wrong, but i've been working my ass off in the business for many years to find out that a lawyer fresh from uni gets the same than a senior designer.maikel2/3
...from uni makes more money than a senior designer! I'm just saying that we are unfairly underpaid : (maikel3/3

Creatives is pretty sad viewing, isn't it.

    • < sadly ironic, because they're the backbone of the agency.gramme1/2

I dunno ECD salaries are as much if not more than lawyers etc...

Basically I think if you're clever and good you'll end up earning a lot of money whatever you choose to do...

Also I'd add that creatives are the lowest paid at the beginning but by the time they get to board level they are the highest paid and pampered by far.

You salary also rises a hell of a lot quicker if you're a good creative or planner than any other discipline...

    IT isn't that bad...

I know a few fellows in IT that are making more than a lawyer (about 6 figures, I mean).
I don't know many designers over the 60K mark...

    : (

    • I'm guessing they're consultants though right?.Mimio1/2
      yeah, contracting mostly for banks.

I'm amazed people find it a surprise the creative industries are underpaid... Its an easy degree (to pass), the work is very fullfilling (usually) and 1000's of people chase very few jobs - supply and demand, welcome to capatilism.

    • law and accountancy take at least 3 years on top of a good degree to be qualifiedckentish

there should be a pay scale for designers who actually know what they are doing and use their brains. Those people are in demand.
