If its possible to do other shapes aside from cylinders it could be interesting but I doubt it is.
Likewise if you drop the notion of presenting a piece of packaging and think of it as a way of presenting information on a scrolling cylinder that somehow says a relevant thing at a relevant point along a chart (or timeline) then it could be useful.
But if its just cylinders, and the only thing anyone can do with it is to show a Coke can, then nobody but coke will enjoy any benefit.

I envisage a site advertising, for example, a lot of apps, or maybe vacations. On screen is the app's logo, or the vacation destination and price, and maybe a short overview, and if its of interest, you can sc-roll it across the screen to read more.
That way, as you made your way down the list of options, the ones you were interested would remain flagged as items of interest purely by their visual position on screen. It would svae having to have multiple screens, you could just refer back to the items of interest and then click to book/buy.

Just a bit of fun and an experiment, kinda like the early flash days before it all became tiresome RIA bullshit that no one wants
