I'm trying to put together a list of cities or countries that have great futures in interactive design. I'm planning on moving out of the US for a year for the experience and am looking to get some ideas of places to focus on getting information about.

I'll start with the obvious: London.
Good topic, though. I always wondered about this. Brazilians seem to have been winning all the One Show Awards in recent years.

    • Is that Rio?ol2o1/3
      Probably.CyBrain2/3
      Brazilians? I guess London.raf3/3

    India.
All back-end work is being outsourced there, you can be the only interactive design guru.

    • Mumbai maybe?ol2o1/2

    How about Seoul or barcelona?

    • Barcelona has all it takes to be the world's capital of design, only Spain's tax law is fucked upraf

im on the flip side of that coin, im moving back to the states in the next few months looking for the same thing, as far as I know for me its either,
    1. LA
    2. NYC
    3. SF (been there over 20 years, too cut throat, this would be my last choice)
    4. add city >> please? (as to not hijack ol2o's thread)

    • Where are you moving from?ol2o1/3
this time Culiacan Mexico, my wife is getting rid of her restaurant so i can work again (gee thanks) hahamoldero2/3
if you think sf is cutthroat don't go to nyccuke4263/3

Toronto, but we're kinda similar to most larger American cities.

    • yeah. it's good. I think part of the issue is that my gf wants to be able to teach english also.ol2o1/2
Lot's of TSOL schools here and they're usually hiring. If you're looking for a culture change, it won't be that dramatic.Andrew_D2/2

My Canadian family says Montreal is good, (some big video game company out there) a lot of good motion graphics studios come out of there as well I seen. I have a daughter so its really tempting. I forgot all my french.

I do have quite a bit of payback for one of these guys if I make it back up there:

Anyone know how hard it would be to work in Spain for an American?

    • If I were moving to Spain I'd want to work for a Spaniard.MrT1/2

China. Largest country in the world. I would think it would be a great place.

    • to lose your rightstOki1/3
Westerners have a notoriously hard time adapting to Japan. China must be much harder than that.CyBrain2/3
although the prospect is actually really great considering somebody has to make the software for all of the products coming out of there, it might be difficult to actually work there. I'd be taking their job.ol2o3/3
