how do djs get away with having downloads of their mixes without getting shafted for copyright costs from labels.
after all, they are freely distributing someone elses music.anyone know?
- dunnopartdeux
- it has to say for promotional use only somewhere on it or that can get shafted.camer
- If you sell the mix you need clearance
otherwise the mixes are deemed promotional
camer - didnt know that, cheers.
might look in to it more.23kon - actually it's illegal regardless, but it's rare that any action is taken because of the culture around itrzrffglyr
- promotional disclaimer and crediting artists is mostly to not piss copyright holders offrzrffglyr
- and to.. well, promote the artistsrzrffglyr

This is Richie Hawtin's label, M-nus, I'm pretty sure his brother does it for him.
f*cking great techno, too.

I dont have any better links but i'd say that none of the ones linked so far were very stand-out.
NeverRain one is quite functional and not offensive.
The DieselBoy one is very 2001.Im in the middle of designing a site for music that myself and a mate make and will also host dj mixes so thought this thread wouldve been of interest.
You'd maybe be better checking out Band/Artists sites.
