So now that I've put aside some money for the Switch and Zelda, it turns out I can't actually buy one anywhere at retail price. Chances are I'll have to wait months before I can. Maybe this is a good thing.
- you guys get crushed by customs if you buy from Europe? it's not sold out around here, I'm looking at amazonernexbcn
- I have no idea. The idea that it's available on Amazon there is unthinkable. Lowest price on Amazon is currently $100 over retail over here.monospaced
- The Spanish site has it at $399 Euro, which is even more expensive.monospaced
- 329€ https://www.amazon.e…ernexbcn
- I saw a photo of like 50 switches bought from Walmart, scalpers are making a messernexbcn
- Forget it mono, it says shipping in 1 to 2 months, damnernexbcn
- if its only for zelda you could perhaps find a used wii u and sell it off again afterwardsNutter
- Oh, I just this very minute bought one from my usual place - regular retail price, 3700kr with Zelda 649kr extra. Delivery in a couple of days or so.face_melter
- I had this problem, so pre-ordered it on the hight st, then kept an eye for online retailers. Found one online, bought it, two days later it arrived.TOMMYxGUNN
- I've had it for a couple of days now, but god damn work keeps getting in the way. Zelda is absolutely incredible. Fantastic game.TOMMYxGUNN
- Mono, in France it's sold out online and in most stores but new units are expected to be available by the weekend.spl33nidoru
- Yeah, they're gonna have more in the US soon too, but I'm just not the kind of person who stalks a store for video games. I'll just wait until they're availablemonospaced

Well, fuck me with a Moblin dildo - I ordered the Switch yesterday, around 11am, and it was delivered and ready for collection today. Picked it up after work.
Just played Zelda for 10 minutes or so just to get a feel for it and... I swear to almighty fucking god, in those opening 10-15 minutes or so I experienced more wonderment and joy than 10+ hours of Horizon. The effortless grace with which everything is done - the low key button prompts, the music, the art. You exit the opening area, into the great wild and it's all there. The entire world - no cutscene, no obnoxious orchestral dirge - only birdsong and wind in the trees. With only a slight nudge to tell you were to go on the map, you start your adventure.
But you don't. You turn around and explore and discover for yourself - because you can. I climbed a bluff and watched some squirrels lark about a bit, picked up some branches and mushrooms and then encountered a trio of Bokoblin - with no prompts to tell me how to use weapons, no tutorial messages about combos, only the feeling of accomplishment. It is very telling that the options give you a Pro Mode for the HUD, which turns everything off apart from your hearts.
The game, from the ground up, is designed to be explored - to be understood, to be experimented with. Being a Zelda game, you have to save the world, obvs. But for now, that can wait because I saw a couple of mountains in the distance that look cool and I want to see what they look like.
Cygnus wasn't bullshitting in his earlier posts - this game is legit.
- Glad youre enjoying it. See you in about 100 hours. LolCygnusZero4
- I actually just beat it a couple days ago. Took me 90 hours and still didnt complete nearly everything. Not even close.CygnusZero4
- Its funny that youre excited about what youre seeing now. Just wait. The game keeps on delivering the surprises.CygnusZero4
- Wait til you discover all the little things that can happen in the gameplay that you couldnt have possibly seen yet. Plus all the various locations in the worldCygnusZero4
- It's just a blessed relief after the boredom sandwich that is Horizon. I really, really, tried to like it but it's just all so mediocre.face_melter
- In hindsight, I probably should have written that nonsense about Horizon instead of Mass Effect - which I know, despite its failings, I would enjoy :/face_melter
- CygnusZero41
^ Just wanted to tell you about the combat, there isnt really combos like you mentioned. There is just flurry rush, and shield parry, both of which will take you time to master since all of the enemies have different attacks, so the timing varies. I think the game does explain this at some point.
- That's what I mean, no annoying button prompts or messages. If there are combos I prefer to find them out myself, not be told like a child.face_melter

The only complaint I really have with Zelda after beating it is the dungeons, which Zelda is known for. There is only 4 in this game, and they are kind of all the same theme. Theyre still awesome, and the way you interact with them is different than all previous Zelda dungeons, but most Zelda games have like 8-10 big dungeons. Only 4 in this one, not counting Hyrule Castle at the end, since technically you can kinda skip through it to get to Calamity Ganon.
This game does have the shrines though, and theres over 100 of them, so that makes up for it, but I do still wish there were more main big dungeons in this, with different themes. Its really just a minor complaint though in an incredible game.
- I like they were ballsy enough to just ditch the dungeons - though yeah, I do miss them. There are 'dungeon' style areas you come across.inteliboy
- Yet there are no indoor / cavern areas, it's all outdoors.inteliboy
- Well theres lots of indoor areas between shrines, dungeons, houses, etc...CygnusZero4
- You dont even notice there are no caves while playing. The world is so damn big.CygnusZero4

where do you get a switch? looks like it's sold out everywhere
- wait until you can get it? who the fuck knowsCygnusZero4
- breath of the wild is also on the wii u. go get one of those if you want to play it. im sure they are cheap nowCygnusZero4
- Yeah read that there isn't really any difference between the graphics of the Switch and Wii U. The Wii U isn't portable though.Nutter
- wii U sucks, don't waste your money. wait for the switch to be in stock.inteliboy
- it was in stock on the best buy website for less than a minute todayMilan
- I saw a handful on Amazon for under retail, and they were gone within minutes too.monospaced

Interesting video where the Nintendo game designers and developers talk about their approach to making the new Zelda:
Ordered a Switch right after seeing this.
- Wow, so BotW was developed for the Wii U and THEN they decided to port it to the Switch! I thought it would have been the other way around.SteveJobs
- More than likely the Switch wasn't even designed when they started this game, it was a Wii U yeah.ernexbcn
- No for sure, but I figured the Switch might have also been in development concurrently and they could have been developing against those specs? I dunnoSteveJobs
- I'm really going to have to buy a big bag of weed and this game, sooner or later.set

- Maybe they *pfft* have *snort* spent their time *gasp* writing a decent narra... HAHHAHHAHHAHHAHHAHHA...face_melter
- Destiny is pure digital crack, you can say what you want about the story but the game is dope.ernexbcn
- The guy directing this game is the one that worked on the Vault of Glass and directed Taken King which are the best things from the original. I'm pumped.ernexbcn
- Yup, I'll be playing this for sure. Destiny was my go-to game for over a year when it came out, and I never even played with friends. Fucking blast.elahon
- It's ok in short bursts for me. Every few months I think 'yeah, fucking Destiny!', then after a couple of days i'm done - raids and MP don't interest me.face_melter
- you should give a raid a try, it's the best of the game, doing Vault of Glass 1st time when nobody knew anything about it was incredibleernexbcn
- In all my time playing, I've never done a raid. No headphone/mic, no friends play. =(elahon
- But I still loved the shit out of it, haha.elahon
- First 6 months or so I never did a raid. Found a random group on a LFG site and it changed everything. Might be the game that I've dumped the most time into.duckseason
- I prefer to take my time with games, not be harried - raids look like to me. I have the collection, i'll finish the story at some point just to see it out.face_melter

Indie game Rain World launched today for PS4 and PC. Its a platformer where you control a "slug cat" trying to find its family. I've heard it should be quite hard as save points can be far between and enemies move around when you die, so you have to be on the lookout constantly.
Looks beautiful though and the annimations are procedually generated so they can be quite life like.
I'll most likely pick i up when they get around to launch it on mac.

Tons of Switch systems on Amazon that are $100 under retail at the moment, listed as new. For real?
- On Good ol' Trusty Amazon..?
Probably not.detritus - I've never had a problem with Amazon, and it's almost impossible to scam with such a high profile product.monospaced
- Oh, there I was thinking that Amazon's a hive of scum and villainy. Certainly, the two most-read complaints are "scam ratings" and "fake products". *shrug*detritus
- Caveat emptor, and all that.detritus
- jeezmonospaced
- If it's legit, cool - knock yoruself out.
It just sounds a bit too good to be true, a bit too well-timed to not require a bit of suspicion.detritus - I'm a bit suspicious, don't you think? ;)monospaced

- please dont tell me anyone thought this was real. then again, i do live in a world that put a dumb game show host in office.CygnusZero4
- I thought it might be real for a minute, but it was too good to be true. I'm not "dumb," just naive I guess. Apparently they never ship the item?monospaced
- Mate, fucking get one with Zelda. Last night I spent an hour catching lizards, climbing trees, and looking at the scenery.face_melter
- I will, someday, but right now they're going for almost 2x retail price.monospaced
- On Good ol' Trusty Amazon..?

Just platiniumed Horizon Zero Dawn, tried going back to No Man's Sky and immediately gave up. Back to Rocket League I guess
- Nice, were there any crazy "Nightmare Mode Speed Trial" bullshit trophies? I'm at about 80%, but all of the remaining ones are hidden.elahon
- I had to use google for some things like the powercells and hunting challenges, other than that nothing crazy. It's my first platinium so it must be pretty easyelektro
- And yea, finding all the collectibles and metal flowers. It's more time consuming that anything else. At some point you're kind of invinsibleelektro
- rocket league is love!ernexbcn
- Lego Hobbit was my first and only platinum, haha.elahon
- i love rocket league!cruddlebub
