Went to see Jesus and Mary Chain last night, last time I saw them was, fuck knows, probably 20 years ago before those pesky Reid boys went total raj.
It was fucking great. Place was sold out, mixture of all ages from kids who weren't even born when Psycho Candy was released to knackered middle-aged punks.
Took them a couple of songs to get into it, bit once they did it was an absolute wall of noise. William fucking wrecked that guitar - they did Some Candy Talking and at the Spector-esque drums everything just went into clip - like, an instant and massive wave of distortion and feedback which put a huge smile on my face, because *that's* the JaMC everyone imagines in their head.
Played a mixture of tracks from all their albums, including an extended-extended-extended version of the Reverence Radio Mix - complete with Stooges riffs - which was utterly phenomenal and maybe my personal highlight. But yeah, it's really hard to put into words the absolute maelstrom of howling distortion and feedback and drums and bass and light and sound they created. It's how guitars should be played - as things to inflict as much sonic destruction as possible.
Those fuckers played for two hours, with two encores. Best show I have seen in a long, long, long time.
- supported them in april. it was the show i was hoping for when i saw them when they reformed. incredible. i think they know they can't fuck up another tour...kingsteven

- bring earplugs for Dinosaur Jr old manfooler
- Ooooooo, Unsane. Saw them supporting Neurosis back in the mid nineties. It was one of the most intense gigs i've EVER seen. Dark and brutal loveliness.Morning_star
- ^ They were absolutely belting - small venue tuned for heavy rock, it was crushing but in the best way. Old and new material. Seriously good.face_melter
