Well, one of the biggest mistakes a lot of architecture firms made last year was overhiring (esp. Jr. level) to maintain their image, but having no plan to keep them employed for more than 6 months to a year. The layoffs were almost apocalyptic in the arch industry... I don't know how that carries over to design, but I would hope/expect agencies to approach it cautiously, even if they have the cash to tack on a few more employees immediately.

Yeah, I was just wondering cuz I was called by my CD that laid me off last year to go back.... also, a couple other agencies hit me up in the last few weeks as well. Not sure how to take it. I think they're just getting geared up to hire some more designers and are calling everyone on their lists.

we should be doing everything we can to inspire confidence in the economy. For most of us, helping companies sell product is our job. So, we should be helping our own jobs by building consumer and business confidence - that, after all, is pretty much our role in the economy.
we can directly effect our own jobs in this way (even if it is a small way)
