Seems like they are trying to make it look more like a print edition. Thoughts?

nytimes is still better, seems like it's a bit flat. could use more work on the type and links.

I like the mix of old school newsprint style and the very slight gradient/ bevel here and there. Logo could probably be smaller. The header text for article blurbs is not clearly enough different from the description IMO.
NYT set the gold standard, but the challenge for all these papers is to come up with more compelling content if they want to be profitable on the web.
