Hello the internets,
I am giving a speech in France on Saturday half of this speech is made up of animations which I hope to play in powerpoint, I don't have a clue about powerpoint but can I ask these two questions please.
Do I need to bring all my folder full of images and animations or can I just bring the powerpoint file?....
Will my macbook pro work in france or should I use someone elses computer?....
Thank you for any help.

Dont use a french computer, mianly because its an 'aerty' keyboard. I have sat down on those machines a few times and even though its a slight change it really does screw things up.
I know it doesn't sound much but if your stressed about getting things together for a speech then the last thing you would want it to be thrown by those damn gallic keyboards.
Get everything set up and working on your own machine and dont bother with porting files across, etc. You will always forget some key file or something will get corrupted, etc

Thanks for the responses guys, I have it all set up in powerpoint all I need to do is arrow key through it. I think I will bring my laptop and do it from that then.... So my only question is this will my video out work in France?..... anybody got experience in this?...
Thanks again for the help.

i don´t remember if the uk uses standard continental outlets for the AC power distribution (thought your outlets had 3 holes instead of 2?), tried to look it up, turns out wikipedia doesn´t include the UK in its list of europlug supporter countries, no idea if this is true, so maybe check that again, so you would have time to order an adapt0r. good luck with the speech and that.

My wife and I spoke at the University of Sorbonne using a PowerPoint Presentation and our own computers 4 or 5 years ago - everything went very smoothly. you shouldn't have any issues.

I don't know if you'll have internet, but you could make a simple presentation backup with Google Docs as well as have a copy of that simple presentation in a USB drive.
It sounds redundant, but I don't like to look silly in front of a group of people.

Use your own machine if you can. You can get power adaptors at airports, the venue you are talking at should have them as well.
For peace of mind also carry/send backup copies of your talk. E.g. email it someone there, carry it on CD or flash drive. You'll want the powerpoint file(s) and any media they reference (can't remember whether PP embeds them or not.
To test backup everything you'll need onto a flash drive or CD, take it to someone else's machine and run through your presentation, if someone doesn't work track down missing files and repeat.
