  the tree symbolizes fresh air and perseverance in the face of adversity (just like every other tree) It takes a real narrow mind to cut a tree down because of who planted it (imo)

  Interesting. I don't see how they can't turn a (perceived) negative into a positive. They could build a square around the tree with statues that defy what Hitler stood for, and/or they could have simply rededicated the tree to the victims of the war, like that Polak guy said.

  people should fucking fly in thousands of protesters to protest cutting down any tree. Those people are way out of touch with the real problems facing the world, they need a reminder, even if it emits millions of tons of CO2.
