As far as I can tell, there is one ridiculously simple way of making money from Twitter... I'm not necessarily going to tell you what it is just in case it's not that obvious after all...
The only problem with it is that you would need a lot of followers, which makes me think that greedy celebrities would beneft the most from doing it.
Anyone here got any idea what I'm talking about?! Anyone here got any ideas they might want to share in view of making dosh on Twitter?
Just thought I'd put it out there...

If twitter themselves can't even make moneys...

Presumably you could just link a paid-for clickthrough every once in a while?

advertising is the only way to make money from the internet so far, surely?

True. One particular celebrity has nearly 2 million followers. If they were to post a paid-for link and some/most/all of their followers hit the link thats anything up to 2 million unique IP addresses. Gotta be worth quite a bit...

- well more lie product placement, in a way..thelukeandrews

Wouldn't it be a bit of a short lived scheme though? Most PPC have explicit terms forbidding the posting of links purely to generate clicks?
I guess if companies themselves paid for a link it would work.
It would take time to amass that amount of followers but a lot of people blindly follow you if you add them so there's probably something to it.

if you a celebrity you don't really need to be making money out of twitter do you? I mean can you imagine Jay-z sitting behind his computer hoping every will click on a link so he can make a little money? He would probably earn more making a sex tape and it would less shameful too.
- But he could do this AND make a sex tape. More bang, more buck.ismith

the only reason any celebrities are on twitter is to make money. It's an extension of their brand, to keep their 'customers' informed, make them seem up-to-the-minute. Their not tweeting for fun (apart the really lonely, bored ones who need their ego massaging)
