So I've recently gotten some requests from a client for Power Point templates for them to use for presentations. This is something I know next to nothing about.
I've done a bit of research and it seems as easy as making a background image, and placing a couple text boxes over it. Is this it? Anybody have any experience with this kinda things? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

No, adding bgs as images will only increase the doc size. You need to create a template and then use it. Email me if you need instructions on how to do this.

Tell them to go to Microsoft's website and download a bunch themselves!
- Yeah, great idea! Tell them not to pay me!baseline_shift

Sent, play with it and let me know if it works

Make sure you delete the "layouts" you didn't format so that your client can't go and use the ugly defaults... I forgot this step once and like moths to the flame they used the wrong ones :\

This is an area that is much understood by designers. The template can include a background, but also involves how text lays out across a bunch of slides that have content that you cannot control. For example, what does a bar chart look like, and is that your responsibility? For sure at least bullets and headline copy, but what if they have a grid of information? Photos? For most people PPTs are collections of diverse information that can look very bad together, no matter how nice the background is. I would learn more about what they want to do with these templates...what kind of content is in them, if you want to help your clients the most.
- Right on. I was planning on having this convo with them. From what i can tell, they plan on using their own charts/tables.baseline_shift

From experience I can say all they want is a blank canvas so that they can add all their copy, photos, charts, etc that they love to 'create'. I only provided a template with color schemes, fonts, 'grids', etc, once, to later find out they ignored everything and went apeshit with it. From then on, I only do a blank page with a header/footer or some images...
- I fear this might be the case. Is there a way to set up a template to alternate 'layouts'. So i can pace out the slide show like i would a book?baseline_shift
