Back in the 70's and 80's East German sportswomen were not only packed with all sorts of chemistry (that was before it was banned or at least before proper testing) to the point they looked like men.
It gets better though, there were more interesting techniques. One of these was to get them impregnated so that their bodies would get stronger due to release of hormones preparing them for having a baby. Then the pregnancies were aborted so that they could start in tournaments.
How's that for cyborgs?
