I see no one mentioned it here. It's a big news in the blogosphere today. Anyone planning on getting one?
- canuck0
I think if it was like $200 cheaper.

I'm fine with turning pages manually.

I'm not saying that someday music, video, text and everything else won't be storable on that same magic tablets. Just not today.

This will be really cool someday.
But like most new techno-gadgets, I'll wait a while for them to refine it (and lower the price).

These are the dumbest gadgets ever.

I love reading and I can't wait to jump on the eReader bandwagon once it's matured a little more. The current Sony one looks peachy.

With what will I get a paper-cut from, if not a book?
- waterhouse0
When the battery dies, there's nothing to read! Oh my god! Your book has vanished!
- I intend to live in civilisation for the rest of my days. If I can't get electricity, I'll have bigger things to worry about.Nairn
- They have this thing called a recharger, like laptops?epikore
- No worries soon

If electricy was NEEDED to read, Amazon wouldn't try to sell you a Kindle.

If you investigate a little more about this device you will learn that it doesn't require a lot of power to read.
- waterhouse0
Investigate your conscience. This costs $360.
- epikore0
So? If you read a lot of books it will eventually pay for itself. NYTimes best sellers go for $10.
- waterhouse0
Amazon charges equivlently for downloads.
- What kind of dl? PDFs? I'm too lazy to read itepikore
- I'm actually not sure. My guess would be a proprietary Kindle file type. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.waterhouse

Apple should make one, using a flexible oled screen that rolls up into a pen, call it the iText, charge $100 more, then all of you would be clamouring over each other to have one.

nice... a picture of a letter....

When teachers talk about the burning of books, everyone will just assume that it's to a DVD..
You gonna burn your kindles after Y2K finally comes wipes out the power grid?
- just gotta say, loving 'son's grave' at the moment. Great stuff : )unit7

Nothing against it - nor e-books in general... but I already spend most of the day in front of a screen. Why would I want to carry one to bed, bathroom (!), vacations, etc, too? Nothing can replace a book, I think.
- I just don't want to hear anyone start an "it actually makes more sense..." argument.waterhouse

Yeah! Where's my in-retina screen ala terminator..
or, better yet.. a visor like robocop
