—More black
—Ability to turn off advertising elements and unwanted elements like twitter feeds etc.
—CSS3
—Less whitespace, better content or..
—Less navigation, search by interest
(ie. it's there if you want it, you just don't have to look at it)—Removing/Rethinking everything we're used to include. Do I really need Digg, Reddit, Facebook buttons, Favorite Youtube videoes, My latest Flickr photos from someone's wedding, that Jquery function that's funny like a kid's toy, chat-box, commentbox, polls, flash looking like html etc.
What would you like to see/do?

Less gradients and drop shadows? I'm sick of those.
I'm with you on point 5.

One page websites with scroll to navigation. For example: www.volll.com

the use of more web standards that allow the user to interact with the content in different ways like: http://www.cooliris.com/
more web applications http://fontstruct.fontshop.com/ or http://www.splashup.com/

surely the design will have to consider content much more now. There's so many different draws on ones attention that my guess is that we'll see better designs working with the content.
I really have reached a point where I no longer visit a site for the design (as I may have done a few years back and been wow'ed) now I really do need quality content and possibly also interaction/community with others so something where the content is relevant, current and customised to my needs.
I predict that designs will look at how to present these concepts - maybe using rounded borders, drop shadows and relfections. I dunno.

lots of web designers quitting because the forum for creativity has been narrowed by corporate structuring around the industry.

"—Ability to turn off advertising elements and unwanted elements like twitter feeds etc."
I'll believe it when I see it. Although I won't see it either way because of using an adblock...

companies that suck at webdesign get banned of the internet.
—Ability to turn off advertising elements.
Ridiculous suggestion.

I predict that webdesigners will start to work on more experimental projects again. See Stewdio for example.
Hackability in everything is what I really wish for.

— Better typography [please, no more than 3 typesizes and 2 typefaces on one page]
— Better copywriting [if you are a designer and cannot write, please involve someone who can]

i'd like to see print designers moving into digital to spend some time understand the medium more and stop treating it like a static piece of print.
- moving into programmingat least the basicsSalarrue
- i dont expect them to understand programming just the medium - like they would with spot UV, foil blocking, specials, stock etcmaximillion_

Well, with this credit crunch we definitely will see survival of the fittest happening within graphic design.
Theres already a big dip in the print design work being comissioned by clients as they see the web as being a more cost effective way to communicate.
Hopefully the recession will make clients want quality work done rather than just opting for the cheapest quote they get. They want to see results from the money they are spending so will go with 'the better' companies that actually work effectively and give you something that works FOR you rather than going for the cheapest quote from some halfassed company.
- haha .. I wish this were true, what will actually happen is they'l go with the lowest bid in most cases.jamble
- i second jamblecr
- depends on the company. I see more clients going with integrated agencies to potentially save money overall.kev_charlton

It's all about content this year. Every client I talk to wants their own live channel. Streaming video will properly take off this year, and userp everything. Starting to see it in companies, like I know have a content/motion graphics department, and it's busy as hell.
