longest argument ever via email about paying the last installment for a web project. If any of you have seen it - the WineShop page I have been working on since FEBRUARY.
so looks like I won't be getting the final payment and they won't be getting the site! ha!
initial direction that was later rejected:
final result (temp link):

I prefer the temp :/

love the initial
final's text too small
- nah dude, it's good.doesnotexist
- It is too small. I'm old and feeble and can't read it.JerseyRaindog
- no it's perfect I'm telling youdoesnotexist

yah. i like the initial design. nice.
bummer deal, at least you still had the control to pull this site.

if you don't mind me asking, how much was this project worth?
Also, I too have done the no money no site dance, i have even taken a site down which got a clients attention very quickly.
Typically a site remains on my server until I receive final payment anyway. If the client is being a jerk about that, I just use a full screen invisible iFrame on their host in case shit goes awry.

- it wasn't a lot, they just dragged it on forever, which really annoyed me. the last payment was $400 and they don't want to send it.doesnotexist

Final result's really quite nice - not sure what to make of that initial direction, though I don't like it.

never thought about it, but a remote kill switch isn't a bad idea... could set up a server side script to wipe the contents of the root web directory
- yeah, my programmer has it on his server though so soon I'll tell him to delete it. I always wait for final payment before delivering files.doesnotexist

Really nice work. I just don't understand these deadbeat clients. Especially at the end of a project - doesn't make sense.
- exactly, I really don't understand it. more their loss than mine I suppose.doesnotexist
- d_rek0
Looks like their loss... great work for both directions

I prefer the one that's got less stuff on it.
It's wine, not PrayStation.
- yeah, that's what they initially wanted though. a bit illustration that alluded a skull.doesnotexist
- Then they didn't like it when they saw it i guess? The later version functions better imoDaveO
- no they just changed their mind in the middle of the project.doesnotexist

I think its best to not get involved with people that will want to haggle you down to near nothing to begin with. I'm in the process of giving a potential client the boot due to me not really giving a shit if they can get me work "down the line".
Client: "If you give me a really good price, I will give you a steep discount on my services and I can get you more clients down the line."
Me: "What, you mean like, MORE shit clients that will not want to pay what they should for a web presence?"
F it.

yeah I hear that, but the thing is they weren't like this until this last invoice I sent. go figure. good riddens to bad rubbish.
